Arsenal -
The last few days have shown us yet again the depth of feeling our supporters around the world have for this great club and the game we love.

We needed no reminding of this but the response from supporters in recent days has given us time for further reflection and deep thought.

It was never our intention to cause such distress, however when the invitation to join the Super League came, while knowing there were no guarantees, we did not want to be left behind to ensure we protected Arsenal and its future.

As a result of listening to you and the wider football community over recent days we are withdrawing from the proposed Super League. We made a mistake, and we apologise for it.

We know it will take time to restore your faith in what we are trying to achieve here at Arsenal but let us be clear that the decision to be part of the Super League was driven by our desire to protect Arsenal, the club you love, and to support the game you love through greater solidarity and financial stability.

Stability is essential for the game to prosper and we will continue to strive to bring the security the game needs to move forward.

The system needs to be fixed. We must work together to find solutions which protect the future of the game and harness the extraordinary power football has to get us on the edge of our seats.

Finally, we know this has been hugely unsettling at the end of what has been an incredibly difficult year for us all.

Our aim is always to make the right decisions for this great football club, to protect it for the future and to take us forward. We didn’t make the right decision here, which we fully accept.

We have heard you.

The Arsenal Board

Liverpool -
Liverpool Football Club can confirm that our involvement in proposed plans to form a European Super League has been discontinued.

In recent days, the club has received representations from various key stakeholders, both internally and externally, and we would like to thank them for their valuable contributions.

I'm still seething over this. Absolute shower of twats.

' I'm sorry you got a bit upset but We felt it was important that our club participated in the development of a possible new structure that sought to better ensure financial fair play and financial sustainability whilst delivering significantly increased support for the wider football pyramid. '

AC Milan out too. Thank strawberry float that should see it dead in the water. Now roll out the punishments for the banana splits.

All English teams have released statements except Chelsea confirming their withdrawal, is that correct?

Yeah - Someone said it's because they've just finished a game or something.

Very relieved. Still furious at what they've done to my club. Not looking forward to the severe punishment we can expect, nor the lifetime of sneering from any fans not involved in this travesty of an idea. I hope the loudest boos come from our own fans. I cannot wait to see the reaction when fans get back in if the offending owners are still there (imagining the upcoming League Cup final with 4000 neutrals in the stand will give us an idea!)

I woke up during the night after the news broke initially and spent over an hour wide awake despairing at what would happen to the club. Spent Monday deciding whether I would start following Marine up in Crosby so I could get to more games or stick to my roots and support Camden and Islington United. Realised deep down that no club would ever be the same, so considered sacking football off altogether. Kept being hit by this really deep sadness that I probably couldn't share The Arsenal with my son as he grew up, even though they'd still be right there. Haven't decided if I'm still going to cancel my membership following Arsenal's withdrawal. I hate the idea of giving that family any money any more. I don't even go to that many games as I live so far away, but I just liked having the card in my wallet as a little reminder of home, and getting a little pack of goodies each year. I really wanted the white marble away shirt as well. I will NEVER forgive the Kroenke family for what they've done to my club.

I really hope that FIFA and UEFA realise their cards are marked though, because they've got a lot of housework to do.

strawberry float off Kroenkes. strawberry float off Glazers. strawberry float off Perez. strawberry float off Levy. strawberry float off Fenway. strawberry float off Abramovich. strawberry float off Mansour. strawberry float off all the rest of you parasites as well.

And with that, a mighty cheer went up from the heroes of Manchester City and Liverpool. They had banished the awful Super League forever, because it was haunted.

I don’t think there will be any punishment.

I wonder if the clubs will rejoin the ECA though.

Oh dear

I just hope there’s no financial penalty from withdrawing from the ESL. There are rumours of a £100m penalty. Spurs really can’t afford that.

Interesting that we’ve heard nothing from the spanish and Italian teams.

Why shouldn't they be punished? They tried to break the laws of the leagues they compete it. It doesn't matter if the actual "crime" fell through and was unsuccessful. Letting them rejoin, maintain the status quo (which already greatly benefits them) and carrying on as business as usual is just sticking your head in the sand.

They'll throw a tantrum and demand special leverage again in the not too distant future. They need to be reigned in.

I wonder how long before they try again. (My guess is they think their poor messaging lead to everyone hating on the idea.)

The only way of resolving this is by introducing salary caps across the sport. That way clubs can be sustainable businesses. The players have too much power at present and this is partly why clubs are wanting more revenue - to pay for their crazy wages.

As entertaining as this has been, serious legislative change is required to prevent this happening again.

And punishment for the six. A nice 30pt deduction for next season is a good start.
