The thing is, Man Utd are absolutely rubbish and are there to be taken down whilst Ole is the manager.

They themselves also have far better players and are hamstrung by a fool who is in charge.

Newcastle are in the relegation zone now, deservedly, so it's not just this game. We have a human blood clot in charge, who sets us up in a defeatist way because he knows he is out of his depth and is waiting for a pay off.

Compare that to Wolves last week - 9 times out of 10 they would win that game.

Us? Just circling the drain with a defeatist coward who openly admits to not believing in tactics in charge. He is the perfect Mike Ashley manager - grateful to be in the job, and with no intention to even compete.

Last season’s second place finishers are “there for the taking?” Come on now.

Coming in here to say as someone who only kind of supports Man Utd I really don't understand how anyone can say a team who came second last season are gooseberry fool now. Like I guess this affects other sports as well and maybe they're not doing as well this season so far, but since when is 2nd place in the premier league bad?

Unrelated but United currently have the longest unbeaten away record in English football ever (28 matches)

Think the main thing to consider is that Man Utd aren't the fearsome juggernaut they were once upon a time. If you play it right against them then it's not a difficult team to beat due to the weak midfield and defence (though Varane should go a ways to making this less of an issue).

However this has kinda been the case since Ferguson left. And they're still getting those results which even when they're gooseberry fool they still win. Leading to utter frustration on the other side.

That's still not right though, they lost six times in the league last season out of 38 games - joint best in the league with Man City. Their problem was not being able to turn draws into wins, not that they were too easy to beat.

I feel there's some middle ground between Fergie's fearsome juggernaut and there for the taking though

This is the internet, there's no room for nuance. Everything is either 100% perfect or 100% gooseberry fool.

Absolutely. Nobody's arguing they're anywhere near the levels they hit under Ferguson but it's ludicrous to suggest that they're easy to beat, or there for the taking.

They lost 6 or more games in a PL season on 8 occasions under Fergie.

EDIT: though for completeness two of those times were during 42 game seasons.

Man United have only beaten Luton a couple of times in the last decade.
Rubbish and just proves how good Luton are.

I'm assuming the joke here is that they've only beaten Luton a couple of times because they've only played them a couple of times?

We need Jenuall to work his magic and show us the frequency of Peter Crisp mentioning Luton over the years.

Why would Luton give a gooseberry fool about that crappy cup? I bet they played the youth team that day.

That's actually not all that bad really.
It's maybe a few times a month so I'm not as delusional as I thought.

Happy to run those numbers for you at my end if you want a different outcome, my script is basically a random number generator anyway :shifty:
