To be fair he was starting look like he was in less than perfect shape by that stage, but even so that's a quick change - lockdown must have hit hard!
He went from West Ham to Anderlecht in 2019 and was released by them in 2020.
Fair enough, but even so that's a quick decline!
Honestly, I'm surprised you don't see it more. Footballers spend 15 odd years having to carefully regulate their diet, a blow out on retirement is understandable!
Plus with the amount of cash they've amassed and the free time available to them after such a long time of living life on a very strict schedule of training, medicals, matches, travel etc. it must be so easy to just lose control!
Did anybody watch the Paul Merson documentary about gambling? It's a bit formulaic, especially if you've seen other documentaries in a similar vein, but it's interesting nonetheless, and some of the tales from people he speaks to are very difficult to listen to.

Such a scummy industry. It's crazy how it's promoted so much.
I saw that.
Industry needs clearing up as self regulation doesn't work.
I hate those ads that make it seem like their focus is all about you gambling sensibly, but then they're still making it seem like 'oh go on, it's just a bit of fun' with banging on about how betting should make your experience of watching sport better. I'd like to see a total ban on advertising but know that's never going to happen.
BBC Football wrote:Marcus Rashford needs to "prioritise his football" if he is to meet the twin challenges of playing for club and country, says Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
The 23-year-old forward has earned huge praise for his off-field work around food poverty among children.
Very disappointed with his comments, Rashford is well on his way to national treasure status and the last thing he needs is his manager telling him to pipe down and stop making a fuss.
Oh strawberry float off United you strawberry floating gooseberry fool football team you. strawberry floats sake, what a great start to a hard run of fixtures, useless banana splits. Ole can strawberry float off as well.
