The way I see it with United, these players are better than a lot of people give them credit for. I know people think McFred aren’t able to hang at the top of the Premier League, but with the exception of probably Lindelof, I can remember all of them at some point putting in a Man of the Match performance in the last few years. The problem is that, well, they don’t. It’s not a problem with inconsistency, it’s that they consistently don’t.

The manager’s job, really, is to get the most out of the players. Whether that is having a keenness for tactical suitability or recruiting a squad of players that complement one another well. Ole has been snapping up talented players and plonking them in the squad expecting that to be that. I’ve never seen a manager get less from a pool of players like this. Man couldn’t wring a thimble of water from a saturated sponge. Enough is enough.

But nah give him time, it's Ronaldo's fault.

Conte's apparently been letting it known he'd be interested in the job with pre-conditions.

The lineup on GFW today is Max, Barry, Barney Ronay, and Wilson. It's going to be glorious.

Conte would definitely be a step up from Ole.

Still can't remember exactly why he's available, didn't he win the league with Inter last season?!

He fell out with management. Supposedly he wasn't happy that they wanted to cut costs.

He did indeed, but left when it became apparent that Inter were going to sell some of their best players.

He's a manager that wants total control, but I'm not sure that United would be happy to give him that after getting burned by Jose. My preference would be for Ten Hag or Zidane, but I have very little faith that the United board will do the right thing whatever happens, they're as clueless as the coaching staff.

If United give Derby £50m in compensation, so we can avoid liquidation, they can have Rooney and go for another shot at bringing back a club legend :shifty:.

I cant understand how a manager who's only found success in Norway (first time only I believe) and failed with Cardiff in the PL is struggling at a big club like United.

Even at Molde his win percentage was still only about 55% for each stint I believe.

I think Conte would be perfect for Utd. Some of their players would be smarting very quickly.

I think he'd definitely whip them into shape, but doesn't he normally prefer a 5-2-3? United don't have the squad for that sort of formation, especially with the embarrassment of attacking options that they have. Spending £75m on Sancho and then switching to wing-backs would be peak United lack of planning  :fp:

Had Ronaldo gone to MC I think it would've been really interesting to see how Guardiola positioned him and used him.

I suppose it's slightly similar to Sanchez where I'm left wondering if Pep would have managed to wring the last bits of talent out of a great player.

Pep would at least set his team up to play to Ronaldo's strengths. He's one of the best poachers and headererers in world football, so you need to have players that can feed him the ball. United have Rashford (cuts in and shoots) and Greenwood (cuts in and shoots).

A front 3 of Lingard, Ronaldo and Sancho would produce more chances and goals than the current lineup. Of course, without a functioning midfield and the state of the defence at the moment, it's kind of a moot point.

I think Ole should be given time. Need at least a year or 18 months to see if he can get the best out of this set of players. He's trying to shift systems after all and most of them haven't been there that long.
