No but he played in Liverpool's 6-1 defeat to Stoke.

Edit: Apparently that was 2015.....felt more recent. Salah wasn't there.

Exactly, just shows how gooseberry fool he is. If he was any good he would have retroactively changed that result.

The promotion of Newcastle's takeover by Sky is quite nauseating.

Newcastle v Spurs have been suspended and it's a half time now. 7 minutes early than normal.

Between 5-10 years IMO. It won't happen immediately because they won't be attracting top talent immediately and they'll need a manager that is also a draw.

Look at City, their big signing to kickstart things under the Abu Dhabi regime was Robinho in the 2008 summer window. They didn't qualify for the UCL until 2011. There are also more super-rich teams to overcome than there were back then.

Newcastle will have to get out of the Championship before they can start thinking about the Champions League.

Eric Dier  :fp:

Surely Spurs will offload him. A walking calamity not fit to play in this league.

Not fit to play for a team with top 4 aspirations maybe.

Hed walk into most teams in the bottom half.

Trouble Newcastle will have is that they're going to be competing with Chelsea, City, United, Liverpool, Madrid, Barca, PSG, Bayern, Juventus etc for players, and no player is going to choose them over any of those teams. Newcastle as a destination is a hard sell, even with mega wages. They'll be like a Chinese club, only attracting proper mercenary footballers that just want a big pay packet. Any player with genuine ambition will join an established elite side.

They've only got a few years to spend as much as they can before FFP kicks in, and they'll only attract the cast offs from the other big sides (who will probably all trade amongst themselves first of all). Just look at Everton, £500m spent since they were taken over and they're nowhere near competing even for a top 4 spot, and now they can't continue spending because FFP has kicked in.

He wouldn't get near our first XI and we'll likely finish bottom half.

Deserves a huge amount of credit for that. Read the situation and immediately acted on it. Seconds can be the difference between life and death.

Thought the coverage today by Sky lauding the Saudi takeover was rerephensible. But they're getting what they paid for, an auroa of self respect, influence and a bunch of patsies to go bat for them.

Obviously it depends on how well they recruit, but I don't think it's that much of a stretch to suggest they could get into the top 4 in less than 5 years. Their money won't be getting them the Mbappes and Haalands of the world just yet, but I can imagine them now being able to land a better quality of player than clubs like Everton and even Leicester, and look how close Leicester have come the last couple of years. This feels like a season where you have 4 really, really strong teams at the top, but things can change really quickly. United are very hard to predict season from season, and who knows what happens to Liverpool if Klopp moves on.
