The balance comes from the closed system. There are only 28 MLS teams. Only 32 NFL teams. Only 30 NBA teams. And no concept of promotion or relegation, they are all closed leagues. You could argue it's actually an unbalanced system because there is no possible way for a smaller club to get involved.

Also, counter point: American sport couldn't possibly be more capitalistic if it tried.

I assume it's to do with the 30th anniversary of the PL but the clearly Mitre-inspired Nike ball is stunning.

I'd still bank on Liverpool to score 5

Not a fan of giving city a 4 point lead this early on.

Nunez is a spanner.

It's kind of shaping up to be an interesting season, well apart from City probably running away with it. I think we could have a very different top six.

Never understood why some players get rattled so easily. Absolutely no need to react like that given what the other player was doing. Klopp was saying he was provoked? I mean, not really. Anyway, every defender will be trying to rile him up now, so looking forward to seeing how that goes :slol:

Wouldn't be a shame for the neutrals to have Liverpool fall away a bit this season, but Man City running away with it would be dull (although what I and others have predicted). Would be good if both Chelsea and Spurs could mount a challenge, even Arsenal. I think Leicester will fall away this season - they've still not bought anyone as far as I know, and there's loads of talk of their 3-4 best players leaving - and West Ham might struggle to replicate last season's performances too.

Would be nice if Villa could step up and be pushing for 7th or 8th, but I really don't see it.

Glad to be spared the horror of Nunez vs Martinez on Monday, dreadful start for him. Misses the next 3 games and then has to be reintegrated into the Liverpool lineup which might take another couple of games.

Surprised at Liverpool's start, I know it's still very early in the season but they could easily find themselves off the pace before it really even gets going. City and Arsenal to duke it out for the title? :shifty:

Would have been pretty hard for Nunez to headbutt him at least, would have really had to bend down

I mean, I've seen plenty of people get rattled at 5aside (including myself!) so I can understand how it happens in the high pressure environment of the PL with thousands of people watching!

Having said, obviously professional players should have the mentality to cope with it obviously. He'll learn from it I'm sure.

That's true

I actually think United should be looking to play Martinez in the CDM role. He did it quite successfully at Ajax and it would put less focus on his height weakness and more focus on his passing and tackling strengths. But what do I know?

I always wondered how a national side would do in a domestic league, and Wolves are absolutely doing their best to show us how the Portuguese team would fare in the EPL.

I'm just jealous, I'd love a few more Jotas to come to us.

Really taking full advantage of the Jorge Mendes relationship, fair play.

If United want rid of Ronaldo, surely Wolves makes most sense :shifty:
