Yeah it's a stupid rule. I don't really see how it curbs time wasting and I very much doubt it's stopping political messages-anyone wanting to do that will do it anyway and f they do, that can be dealt with after the game.

Just treat it like a minor foul and give a verbal warning. Yellow if you’re already on your last warning. Yellow if you do it twice.

I don’t understand why the play went on for so long afterwards though. Did I miss where they said there would be at least a minute added time? He scored in 120+1. Should have been the last kick of the game. Felt a bit like “there’s no point sending him off if the other side don’t get at least a chance against 10”
