£80 million! I'm surprised United didn't ask for Huntelaar or Sneijder in exchange. Madrid though are doing exactly what they did last time under Perez, here's their list of attacking players:
Raul Saviola Sneijder Robben Drenthe Kaka Huntelaar Higuain Van Nistelrooy Ronaldo
They won't drop or sell Raul, despite the fact that he's past it and been that way for a few years, Ruud is no doubt off, but what of the others? Also despite this wealth of attacking talent, their defence is still awful, none of them are world class defenders, as Liverpool, Barca and numerous other sides in La Liga have shown them this season. Hopefully this comes back to bite Ronaldo and Perez (who is the man I most despise in football) on the arse, in the words of Keegan I would love to see them win strawberry float all for the next few years.

Higuain will stay. You should add Villa to that list because its looking likely he is the next player. Raul will be 3rd choice striker then, Higuain after the season he has had cannot be dropped, and Villa will no doubt be the number 1 striker.

Surely that'd be a waste of time if United do go out and buy Benzema?
It's Lyon though, their chairman is a banana split. As if the price wouldn't be inflated enough because it's United, the fact that Lyon know they have some serious money will make it even worse.
Lyon's chairman is the reason they're in the position they're in.
I expect most of that £80 will be going to pay off the Glazers debt. As a Liverpool supporter i cant help but think that Hicks and Gillett will be looking at Torres and Gerrard and thinking how much they could get for them now.

No it wont.
The debt is perfectly manageable and always has been.
