I think it's professional cowardice to say you won't take sides on the sexual assault claims and instead will "focus on reveals". I think it's spin to say that doing so will put the spotlight on the developers and employees. These are the same people who are suffering in the workplaces due to the practices and attitudes persistent in these massive companies.
Focusing on the glitz and glamour and driving up hype will just help these massive companies and their bottom line. It's just spreading the notion that all gaming and gaming journalism really cares about is those REVEALS and the constant hamster wheel of unveiling new games and getting consumers wanting to buy those new games.
It's a cowardice because it's spreading this notion that it's taking sides will diminish the game awards, or leave us with no gaming awards. Taking sides is not going to take something away from employees, developers or consumers. Shamefully keeping quiet when you have one of the biggest mouthpieces in gaming is harming them in a much deeper way. It's sweeping unpleasant stuff under the carpet so you can all have a back-slapping night out which drives sales for the next wave of titles.
The industry needs to be like a dog with a bone with these claims and keep at them, not just drop them when it's convenient and having a "the show must go on" attitude. As "the show" is ultimately something that is horrifically profitable for the very people these claims are being against.
The industry needs to grow up. Gaming journalists and like Keighley need to do more of the journalism and less of the gurning, self-congratulatory PR presenting.

While I agree with your wider point, he didn't say anything like this be fair, that was Kotaku spin.
I have a feeling a new gameplay trailer of Breath of the Wild 2 will be shown here. Trying to think of Gameplay reveals that would be on the same level as Elden Ring.....maybe Suicide Squad? Metroid Prime 4 would be a good candidate as well.
