With the discount sites, I sign up and add games to my Wishlist that I am interested and just check the prices/how often they go on sale once I get an email notification. This is better for me than browsing the site as I’ll often see a game on the front page that I wasn’t interested in previously and think ‘ooo, maybe I should get that’

It was free money, and was given to you in December (well, for Xmas anyway), so no it doesn’t count :D :)

If you have a wish-list on the PS store, there is a notification option on the PS5 (I think you have to turn it on initially) that throws up little updates on the PS5 menu when an item in said wish-list drops in price. I’ve turned that off….

When I did the 2021 PS Wrap Up yesterday, I was surprised to see I’ve ‘only’ played 15 games. But when I then saw that my top five games had been played for between 86-43 hours each, the surprise disappeared.

It was also proof of how I’ve played more since working from home - no, I’m not playing games instead of working, but I do sometimes game for 30-45 mins at lunch. And the benefits of finishing work and not spending 90 minutes on two trains getting home is that time can be spent in more productive ways - exercise and, yep, gaming.

Depends on when Proto started their goals, surely? And whether they expected to get the £50. If so then it would be factored into their goal so the game should count. :capnscotty:

Haha, it was tongue in cheek and was the kind of stance I adopted as a kid with Xmas money - spend it as soon as I can, it’s not technically proper money.

I guess **I DIDN'T BUY** the game with my own money. We're gonna need Jawa to adjudicate :capnscotty:

I've analysed the evidence and found that... it doesn't count! This is because the game was effectively a gift; you didn't spend your own money to make the purchase. So, for this project, you remain on zero purchases, Proto.

I've just stumbled. I placed an order with Amazon for Dark Souls Trilogy on PS4 at £27.95. I couldn't resist the thought of having the three games and all the associated DLC in disc format. Opening post updated.

It seems some merciless rigour needs to be injected into this process.

My verdict is that it depends why Prototype joined the thread.

If it was mainly to save money, then no, it doesn't count. But if it was mainly to buy fewer games so that you enjoy the ones you have more, then yes it does. Like the telltale heart, only Prototype and his conscience can know the answer to this. Be truthful. Don't be a melon and end up waking screaming in a cold sweat every night in fear that your sins will catch you out.

As for Jawa. This is clear-cut. Guilty on all counts.

The sentence of this court is that you will be taken from here to the place from whence you came and there be kept in close confinement until the date of the next e-shop sale, and upon that day that you be taken to the place of execution and there hanged by the neck until you are dead. And may God have mercy upon your soul.

 . That most disparaging of assessments! Proto is all good... he called out the incident and the voucher/game was effectively a gift rather than being of his own expense.

:o  . I'm doing okay so far; two months in and two games so it's kinda "on-track" for my "max twelve games". If I'm gonna beat my target I'm gonna have to stop looking at both gaming news and price reductions sites.

Made my first purchase of the year, well, kind of, I ordered Pokemon Legends Arceus following the good reviews but i've not actually spent any money on it as I used credit I have with CEX to order a copy. It still counts a purchase I guess :slol: but I have still spent £0 on games in 2022

Yeah, if you spent £0 then I don't think it counts as a game purchase, IM. You're still on zero in the tracker :toot: .

Hmmm. All the technicalities are coming out now. A bit like how Jawa has bought a trilogy and only counted it as 1.

In this case, I am fairly sure that a CEX voucher has an expiry date. So you could argue that by NOT using it, you are in fact actually potentially losing money. This makes it superficially tricky.

However.

I notice there was no monetary component to your pledge in the OP. It was simply to buy no more than 24 games. And you could have used those CEX fun bucks to buy e.g. a stolen phone or 150 scratched DVDs instead.

(Dons black cap) Therefore, by your own admission, you have still purchased a game whether you did it with real money or by bartering your own fenced goods for vouchers.

Guilty.

You have only 23 to go on my spreadsheet. Send him down.

You're a hard taskmaster, Abacus! I can see your point, though... perhaps I should mark it down as a purchase by Milner!

Bought my first game of the year - Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection - thanks to the £10 upgrade. Five games remaining! :)

Hey, Tony, good shout. At a tenner, that's a reasonably mild purchase! Opening post updated.

I pre-ordered Retro Bowl from the Switch eShop last night. The pre-order was 40% off, making it £2.69, and I used some Gold coins to bring the cost down to around £1.30. At that price I'm not gonna count it as being one of my (max) twelve games, though. So rebel.

Hey, folks! Just checking in to see if you've made any recent purchases that need to be added? Everyone seems to be doing a cracking job so far! I guess that Jan and Feb are usually a quieter time for gaming so the pressure is gonna crank up in the coming months. I think my next purchase is gonna be Elden Ring.

Nothing so far for me, although Horizon Forbidden West is tempting me with its ‘newness.’

Must resist & get back to F.I.S.T. & Assassin’s Creed Valhalla..
