It's a "maximum of twelve games in twelve months" target; starting from 24 November. A few other folk have set themselves a target of a slightly different number of games. I was thinking of this as being games circa £25+; I don't think I'd count a game at, say, £5 but if there were a few of them then I'd round it up to "one game". So far it has just been that Godfall DLC, though.
So maybe 12 AAA games and a few indies on sale as and when

NOPE. He's said twelve games and he will stick to twelve games.
(Or at the very least be forced to document his ignominious climbdown in the OP.)

I've waded through the (literally thousands of) games on sale in the PlayStation and Nintendo online stores... and, man, I'm tempted by some of the offers.
After seeing a few titles that I was hot on, I've left it for a bit and cooled down. I've kinda told myself that I can get maybe one or two cheaper titles, but not to rush in.

I bought a game; Mass Effect Legendary Edition on PS4 for £29.99 (PlayStation Store). Opening post updated!

My plan is to buy zero games for 12 months.
Except whatever comes along through Gamepass, because I've already paid more than a year in advance for that and am not an idiot.
There is nothing I'm interested in much. And anything good will still be there afterwards, but just cheaper.
I am feeling a sense of calm about this.

Welcome to the tee total club, Abacus!
I am still "zero" game purchasing free and have held my metal against the throngs of the eShop game dicounts.

Welcome to the show, Abacus! I've added your details to the opening post. A target of zero games sounds tough... although, as a Game Pass subscriber, I guess you're still gonna get to play plenty of fresh games anyway!

Well done, Gecko! You've made a great start in this first month; especially as the sales are here to tempt.

I uhm'd and ah'd for ages before diving in... it's kinda okay, though, as it's just one of my (max) twelve and I think I'll enjoy the trilogy. If I ever play it

Plus your one purchase just got you 3 games technically so that’s some savvy spending

Hey, can I play along too?
I have too much of a PS4/PS5 backlog. When you've planned to start Assassins Creed Valhalla over Xmas for a few weeks, then realise you once bought Assassins Creed Odyssey (complete with DLC), haven't started it and spend a few moments pondering which 80+ hour marathon to start first, then you have a problem! Add to the backlog whatever Santa is bringing tonight, and I do not need to buy many (if any) games next year!
Thankfully I realised this a couple of days ago - at the same time as I was looking at the Xbox Series X page on Microsoft's web site and thinking about buying one (it was in-stock) so that I could take advantage of Game Pass. I realised I basically have my own game pass...it's my PS4/PS5 unplayed library.
So, Jawa, if I can be added please that would be great. No more than six games in 2022!

Haha, snap, man - like yours, TonyDA, my PS backlog is a pretty much a game pass library
.

Good to have you aboard; added to the opening post!
After Christmas I'll make a better log to track all our details.

A suggestion, Jawa et al. - perhaps the OP could also include numbers of old games started, re-started, or completed? Only if y'all think it would be helpful, for those with Gamepass-sized backlogs. You could reach the end of the year and compare old games vs. new games, and if you've started/finished twice the number of old games as you have bought new games then you could feel good about yourselves!

Love this idea as well! Was thinking of doing a spreadsheet to track it, so this is great!

Hey, folks! I only really plan on tracking game purchases in this thread, for folk who are setting themselves a "max purchases" target. Remember that ITSMILNER runs the excellent
Bought/Played/Completed thread for general, non-targeted game tracking and he has launched that thread for 2022 -

A few folk are now almost six weeks into their run whilst a couple of others have just started. How're you getting on? I've bought one game so far; that Mass Effect Legendary Edition in the PlayStation Store sale. I've been very tempted by other deals in the PlayStation and Nintendo Store sales and, whilst I have resisted so far, the struggle remains real!

Three days in and I'm doing fine!
Just ignored a couple of decent PS5 prices on Amazon, have returned two (still sealed and likely to remain so for sometime if they stay in my house) games bought in the pre-Xmas sales, and have started two of the backlog - Last of Us II and the PS5 version of Assassins Creed Valhalla. So that's the next 100-120 hours of gaming taken care of then. Definitely don't need to buy any new PS5 games releasing in February/March, like Horizon and GT7 - the question is whether I can wait until the price-drop on them in November for Black Friday, which is really what I should have done for the few PS5 exclusives that released in 2021....
