I'm a bit iffy about the DMCA stuff. YouTube's DMCA system is very open to abuse, as was shown recently with the Alex Mauer mess, and I'm not entirely at ease with Campo Santo going after Pewdiepie using the DMCA due to the precedent it could set and create a situation where less scrupulous devs could abuse the system. I'll have to try and expand my thoughts later when I'm at a PC instead of on the phone but I'm not sure this is the right course of action for Campo Santo to follow.

A few lower profile Youtubers were making the point that this incident will probably hurt their ad revenue even more than Pewdiepies earlier shitehawkery already has. Obviously this is bad.

Now onto to Pewdiepie himself. strawberry float that guy.

Eric Bischoff's autobiography title immediately springs to mind; 'Controversy Creates Cash'. More eyes on him, video watch rates up, more ad revenue. I mean he has 57 Million Subscribers and I can't imagine many people will unsub.

As I tried to explain to Walker, this is a valid point but also a much smaller issue when we're taking about a man with more subscribers than most countries in the EU openly using racial slurs.

Maybe smaller isn't the right word. Priorities need to be established and for me, in this context, IP law pales in comparison to the mainstreaming of racism.

Campo Santo are making use of a bad thing to do a good thing. I think it's justified.

The part of my post you quoted wasn't about the DMCA issue.

After the previous round of Pewdiepies horrible behaviour got mainstream attention a whole swathe of gaming related videos were deemed unsuitable for monetisation. Because of that a lot of gaming Youtubers saw a significant reduction in their income through no fault of their own. This latest incident may cause the same thing to happen again. That's a shitty state of affairs.

Well, unfortunately, it is no longer 2003, and this is now the #1 format for games media. As fun as I'm sure it is to ask "who cares?" about streamers or Let's Play videos.

But this is seriously derailing the issue. How out of touch you are with games coverage in 2017 doesn't really have anything to do with PDP being a banana split.
