Your man's had some terrible takes in the past but this one's really up there with the worst of them.

I've seen some terrible opinions on here but congratulations, that is the single worst I've ever seen anywhere.

In other news, my friend gave me a last minute ticket to RHCP.

Was alright. Would have enjoyed it more if not for the swathes of chavs lobbing cups of beer and/or piss.

Do you mean... music??

He literally does

But any musician can just read the notes and play the same music. Just like how solo artists constantly have different bands doing the music for them.
Same as the London Symphony Orchestra doing a cover of thriller. Give the music sheets to another orchestra and there you go the same ;)

The difference is with a band 9 times out of 10 people are performing songs they wrote, they have a connection with the music as it’s part of them. They aren’t just faces performing somebody else’s material.

If you are only into solo artists then that’s fair enough but reducing the contributions of some of the best musicians and performers in the world to just ‘so and so’s backing band’ is fairy narrow minded.

I’d actually argue that in most cases you couldn’t just give a piece of music to any musician and have them play it exactly the same as every performer is unique and has their own playing style.

Fair enough. Thanks I can see where I was being very narrow minded now. I better just stick to solo artists then as I guess I cannot appreciate musicians in bands.

Well. Umm. Moving on I guess…

Saw Metallica in Prague tonight. They were pretty good. Setlists are down to 16 songs and a strict 2 hours now because they’re getting old but for the Europe run they’ve made them super interesting. Opens with whiplash, creeping death, then enter strawberry floating sandman is third (normally it’s main or encore set closer, it wasn’t played this early since 1993). A couple of deep cuts have become staples (trapped under ice, dirty window) and they dropped Nothing Else Matters for a few shows (it’s back now) along with some really interesting rotations (bleeding me or no leaf clover) …

Performance wise they’re tight as strawberry float and arguably playing the best shows of their career. Production is very impressive (not really their best stage build, but the elements for songs like One are just sublime) … it’s just a very interesting time if you’re big into a band. This was show 22 so I guess I am big into the band.

I’ll see them in Germany on Friday and Switzerland next Wednesday. :)

Wow, I’ve seen Metallica a few (6?) times but all in the UK. Not brave enough to travel abroad for a gig. It does sound as though the set list has had a shakeup indeed. Dirty Window? Really? Wow.

I’m seeing the HellaMegaTour (Green Day, Weezer, Fall Out Boy) tomorrow in London, and Rammstein on Sunday in Coventry.

Was also due to see the Foos on Monday at Villa Park but, you know, that obviously ain’t happening. Taylor

Let us know how tomorrow goes - very excited for the Hella Mega Tour next week.

Wrathy - that's mad. I've also seen Metallica six times, they're still one of my favourite bands! But out of principle I won't pay £100 to see them (or anyone in a sole-headline tour) in an arena tour now so I guess my days of lining their pockets are coming to an end.

As for going abroad for gigs, I can't recommend it highly enough! We went across to Warsaw for the first co-headline tour of the "Big Four" back in 2010 at Sonisphere Poland. They played with Mastodon and it was bloody incredible. Also just back from Primavera Sound in Barcelona. The week itself was marred with Covid and money issues but the music and festival itself was very good indeed. Totally different vibe from the UK, and all the better for it at times.

Might go see Billie Eilish on Sunday at the o2. Still tickets available but need to decide if I want to spend £111 on a ticket.

I couldn't get a ticket for her Glasgow shows, make sure and report back! :D

I think my upcoming gigs are:

Hella Mega Tour - June 29
Modest Mouse - July 20
Dinosaur Jr - October 11 (This is at my work's student union though, bit worried about that  )

Hoping to pick up a ticket for a day of the Connect Festival to maybe see The National, and if I can justify the funds potentially LCD Soundsystem on July 1 at Brixton Academy to also attend the meet up. Travel to London last minute is strawberry floating crazy though.

Got presale ticket for Biffy Clyro in Nov. Very reasonably priced too. Start at £40. Didn't see any listed above £60 (for Birmingham anyway)

Frome gets Paul McCartney, Trowbridge gets George Ezra, and Warminster?

We get....

....The Military Wives!

Someone hold me back!
