I've got two gigs booked in for next year.

Guns n Roses at Tottenham Stadium

And then the night after

Foo Fighters at London Stadium

It's been a bloody long time since I've been to a gig, so I'm excited.

Spector (which was moved from November because the new album was delayed)
Kings of Leon at Resorts World next June
Brian Fallon from Gaslight Anthem fame at O2 Institute in May
Wildwood Kin in Bristol next Sept

Was disappointed to forget about the Foo's at Villa Park goin gon sale but I might keep my eye out for a ticket nearer the time as it's only 10-15minutes from me.

Just found out Jesse Malin is supporting Brian Fallon. Delighted with that!

Saw Bring Me The Horizon a week ago at the London O2. Covid vax checks were a joke, so don't expect anything thorough if going to an event there. Picked up a cold just after, but nothing worse (Was expected tbh, after not being around others for so long).
It felt a bit daunting being around so many people after however long it's been.

Decent show though. Probably one of the best use of visuals I've seen at a gig; semi-transparent screens forming almost a cage which would lower and raise around the band, with various video playing over it. Most of the bands I go to these days only have the budget for a banner behind them

Orla Gartland was strawberry floating immense. The opening acts were surprisingly decent despite us having never heard of them, which is nice, but the energy when Orla came on was immense. Absolutely banged out the tunes, and somehow made even the ones that are a bit naff sound brilliant.

Absolutely everyone knew practically every word, too. Normally it'd annoy me to have everyone singing over the act, but it made for an incredible vibe.

Was planning to go to that but it looked packed so covid put me off.

Reading the news about Astroworld this morning, and it sounds horrific. Hard to believe that it's still possible for someone to put together a festival somewhere in this day and age, where there's a whole industry managing to put on festivals safely around the world every weekend, and end up in this situation. Paramedics apparently had to move through the crowd to reach some of the injured people, the barrier layout was a design that's seen crushes happen before, way more people got in than should have when they broke down security fences. Just a heap of things that were wrong. Someone's really cut some corners in pulling this together, and now 8 people are dead with scores more injured.

I made the mistake of reading eye witness accounts and watching videos of a young girl and lad begging a camera operator to ask for the shop to be stopped. And a video of a Travis Scott, the rapper singing a shitty autotuned vocal as a lifeless (possibly dead) body is crowdsurfed out of the crowd. Just horrific.

Worth noting part of his act is getting the crowd worked up and telling them to push forward and gooseberry fool like that.

The whole thing is a disgrace and people need to go to jail.

To be fair to Scott, his shtick is pretty similar to any number of other rap/metal/rock bands where they create mosh pits or a more aggressive atmosphere. He's been doing this for years; clearly the people who set up the barriers, etc, are those to blame. I doubt he realised how bad it was getting in the crowd.

I dunno, he seems pretty extreme with his shtick:

The key bit there's in the last paragraph, it was all that extra one floor's height that made the difference...

Nah that's dumb as strawberry float all round to be fair. Bet that was settled out of court.

Got tickets to see tears for fears next year in Cardiff castle. Hopefully it's sufficient time for them to learn a few stereophonics and tom jones covers :toot:

Had my first gig in almost 2 years last night - The Offspring, supported by The Hives at the NEC / Resorts World Arena in Brum.

Fantastic performance by them both (the less said about the opening act Bob Vylan the better!). Never seen either of them before but would go again if I had the chance.

Started at 7pm and finished at 10.20pm though. What gives with the early starts and finish though?

The Hives have been great every time I've seen them. Bags of personality.

Yeah, the lead singer was constantly whipping the crowd up. During Tick Tick Boom (their last song) he also got the floor to part and create a path for him to walk about 100ft deep into the crowd and then asked everyone to sit down! Never seen that done by anyone else before! He spent a couple of mins there before standing up and sprinting back to continue the song.

I’m seeing The Hives next week for the third time (both at festivals before). He did the parting the crowd and sitting down thing at Reading, was really cool. One of the times started going on about not being welcome back after Brexit or something  looking forward to seeing them again.
