What is The Good Wife?

Wikipedia wrote:The Good Wife is an American television legal and political drama that premiered on CBS on September 22, 2009.[1] The series was created by Robert King and Michelle King. It stars Julianna Margulies, Josh Charles, Christine Baranski, Archie Panjabi, Matt Czuchry and Alan Cumming, and features Chris Noth in a recurring role. The current executive producers are Ridley Scott, Charles McDougall, and David W. Zucker.[2] It is a heavily serialized show with season-long story arcs that also features stand alone procedural story lines that will be resolved or concluded by the end of each episode. This is a rarity among The Good Wife's broadcaster CBS, as most of their shows are procedural.[3]

The show has received widespread critical acclaim and won numerous awards, including five Emmys and the 2014 Television Critics Association award for Outstanding Achievement in Drama. The performances of the show's cast has been particularly recognised, with Julianna Margulies' role as Alicia Florrick receiving significant praise.[4] On March 13, 2014, CBS renewed the show for a sixth season.[5]

Where can I watch it?

First four seasons are on Netflix now with the fifth probably on there by January at the latest. The show airs on More 4 in the UK normally from January and airs Sundays in America starting from 21/9.

Tell me more.

Over the last five years The Good Wife has developed one of the best casts on television with recurring roles for Michael J Fox, Nathan Lane, Gary Cole, Stockard Channing, John Noble, Matthew Perry, Carrie Preston, Amanda Peet and pretty much every cast member of The Wire apart from McNulty and Stringer. Seriously count them as they appear.

But the name's awful.

The name is as bad as the show is good.

This is a brilliant show. Stopped watching THAT SPOILERIFIC THING happened to will in the courtroom, but I can't remember why. Are there episodes after that? Or did I get to the end?

So awful. When I first heard of the show I was expecting lots of housework, cooking, cleaning, etc.

Can confirm that this show is decent. The wife watches it on More 4 and I catch a few episodes here and there. Good performances throughout especially Michael J Fox.

6x01- Great opening episode though Cary's story was difficult to watch, he's been incredibly screwed. :( Seems to be difficult for Alicia to be elected State's Attorney too, she can't run while her partner is indicted for heroin trafficking surely?

I had to gif this moment:

This is the first season of a returning show that I'm gonna watch at tv pace in years

"I need you to do another poll, this one about the governor"
"Professional or Personal"
"Personal"

So glad they brought Eli's daughter back, she's a great foil to him

I don't want to predict where the show's going (after all this was a legal procedural about a mother in season 1) but I'm expecting
Alicia to get SA midseason then turn on Peter in the finale (Eli's line about "a friend in the office" seemed telling, that way they can do cases with Robin working for Alicia going against Kalinda working for wherever Carey, Canning et all end up

Season 1 is the worst season as it takes time to set up the characters and ongoing plots.

6x02- Great episode!

Taye Diggs- Do you have any sense when he'll be back?
Robin- 5-10?

 Robin's the best.

Loved Diane's exit from LG too, that was very well done. The little "goodbye" was perfect.

Really liked the end of that. I do wonder what they are going to do with Alisha this year, would kinda be good for the series as a whole if she went for it

She'll find a reason to, that's probably why Diane's being brought over to Florrick/Agos. Before Cary got out on bail, I assumed Bishop was going to have him killed in jail and that would be her motivation for running.

Hypothesis: Alicia will bring Robyn with her to the State's Attorney office if Diane is set on replacing Robyn with Kalinda. She needs a friend over here apart from Finn.

Plus Robin's the best side character in the show and needs more screentime, Kalinda's getting boring with all her DRAMA and SADNESS plots

Kalinda never recovered from that awful season 4 arc with her husband. Her season 5 arc with that Irish lawyer was almost as bad.

Desperately trying to avoid spoilers in here, but I've managed to watch 18 episodes of this in the past week. Into the last 6/7 episodes of season 1 and I'm really enjoying it. The characters are all great, with the exception of Kalinda who just annoys me and I hope will strawberry float off.

Alan Cummings has absolutely stolen the show since he first appeared though. Absolutely fantastic character.

Welcome aboard! Eli becomes a main cast member from season 2 onwards.
