Anyone who votes against Ash to win is a Numbskull and are just giving in to their Envy. But I'm prepared for the fact they may not win, Sometimes I guess You Can't Have It All.

I do think they took a bit of a stumble after Hatherley left, Free All Angels and Meltdown would be peak Ash for me. Still some great stuff after that though.

Don't think I've actually knowingly heard any of their songs.

I think I've only heard one song by Ash (Jackie Chan) and while I didn't dislike it, it didn't make me want to check out their other stuff.

I want The Prodigy to win.

Frank Black's Teenager of the year is probably one of the greatest albums I've ever heard.

Technically I have heard a Pixies song, just not the original version.

You should check out The Pixies, maybe give Doolittle a whirl. They're very good.

No Pixies, no Teen Spirit, or so I've heard.

No Pixies, no 90s Alternative scene. Simple as that. Doolittle is genius from start to finish.

I think saying "No pixies, no 90s alternative" is a bit hyperbolic but they were certainly a massive influence and inspiration for many bands.

Most of my favourite bands probably wouldn't exist in that case, no Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains, Kyuss, QOTSA, Tool or Deftones :dread:

More or less yeah, though I'd probably knock Tool out of that as they're absolutely undefinable, maybe more prog-metal than alternative rock. 90's alt bands - particularly 90s grunge bands, absolutely took their lead from Pixies and I'd say they would have been completely different if they'd never existed.

There's an argument to be had that Dinosaur Jr. and Sonic Youth are equally influential but I'd say Pixies are absolutely vital to a lot of the music you love, yeah. :D

I strawberry floating adore Dinosaur Jr. Freak Scene makes me smile just from the opening bars, such a fantastic record.

EDIT: And don't forget Mudhoney and Hüsker Dü when talking about the origins of grunge.
