Their first three albums are very good and they still manage the odd decent tune. TCATS is essential late '90s alternative rock.

Never liked them, all my friends were wanking themselves silly over how ace they were and I just simply thought they were gooseberry fool, but then most of them hated Metallica, cause they liked gooseberry fool music.

Everyone has heard of them and they are popular. That’s enough for the GR cool kids to hate them.

I love Soundgarden, Alice in Chains and Pearl Jam yet oddly can't get on with Nirvana aside from the odd song..

They were certainly the most well known grunge band and made me aware of the genre but for me they're the worst of the 'big four'.

Screaming Trees and Mother Love Bone are also worth checking out.

MLB only released one album shortly after frontman and founding member Andrew Wood died from a heroin overdose, two of them (Stone Gossard and Jeff Ament) later went on to form Pearl Jam with Eddie Vedder and Mike McCready.

Screaming Trees' lineup included the awesome Mark Lanegan and a young Josh Homme.

You heard Temple of the Dog? I think it's a tribute thing and has both Chris Cornell and Eddie Vedder doing various vocals. Love Hunger Strike by them.
