Just forced myself to sit through near ten minutes of achingly self indulgent electric guitar bullshit when researching this Steve Vai character... Yeah he needs to get to strawberry float.

Pfft, Vai is ace. Has done tons of stuff and his music is used for Bill and Ted's air guitar stuffs. :fp:

Nothing wrong with Bill and Ted certainly.

But the message of Bill and Ted is "be excellent to each other" which is something I think we can all get behind, whereas the message from the Vai dude seems to be "look at me being a dick on my guitar, aren't I great" which I have less time for. ;)

For what it's worth I'm not actually voting for him this round, but I think he's going either now or soon either way!

People said the same about Satriani in the album club and how he could never be in a band cause he's to self-indulgent. Then you see him in Chickenfoot and it's completely different. Ah, well.

...that said, me not hating them will not be enough to save it, as DON BRONCO HAVE BEEN ELIMINATED!

He was in a band called Chickenfoot? Chickenfoot? I am glad we eliminated him, he deserves it just for that.

Wikipedia wrote:In late 1993, Satriani joined Deep Purple as a temporary replacement for departed guitarist Ritchie Blackmore during the band's Japanese tour. The concerts were a success, and Satriani was asked to join the band permanently, but he declined, having just signed a multialbum solo deal with Sony, and Steve Morse took the guitarist slot in Deep Purple

Pfft if he had written and performed Smoke on the Water then I might be impressed. Filling in for a bit in 1993 isn't very impressive.

Music is much more diverse than major movies and games so we've basically ended up with a list of stuff where a good chunk of it lots of people won't care about, have never heard of, or is from a genre that just isn't for them. So these earlier periods are just going to be lots of people voting out whatever thing gets the early momentum on the day and then one or two people being a bit sad because they are the minority that cared about it.

As we move forward the "low hanging fruit" will have gone meaning the controversy and arguments will start to build!

Deep Purple wasn't even nominated. GRcade has decided that Shawn Mendes is better than Deep Purple
