Green is a brilliant album, but some of their later work is a bit MOR. Still, would make my top 5 of the remaining acts.

I don’t especially dislike REM beyond finding them a bit dull at times but I’d say that they are one of my least favourite left on the list. I’d really like Blur and Pulp to get strawberry floated next though. Probably time for Prodigy shortly as well.

Regarding REM, anyone who lived within the Exeter 'Gemini FM' catchment area back in the day will know that they were obsessed with REM, every time i turned on the radio, one of their hits would be playing.

REM's output upto and including Green is absolutely top notch. It gets a little flaky in places after that but still contains some stellar tracks. You'd struggle to say any of the other acts had had more than 2 classic albums (aside from Pink Floyd).

I'd argue that Blur have four (Modern Life Is Rubbish, Parklife, Blur and 13).

Every one of those blur albums is also considerably better than anything REM have ever done.

Nirvana have had three plus several seminal live albums. Chemical Brothers have released Exit Planet Dust, Dig Your Own Hole, Surrender, Come With Us and Push the Button. Blur’s already covered.

Pixies have got Surfer Rosa, Doolittle and Bossa Nova. Maniac have three or four with long titles that I can’t be arsed typing, and you already covered Floyd.

Hell, I’d argue that Prodigy have three absolute bangers in Jilted Generation, Fat of the Land and Invaders Must Die(I also love Always Outnumbered, Never Outgunned but I realise I’m in the minority.

So yeah, I don’t agree with that. :slol:

Ok, fair point (though I'd argue to Manics output mirrors REMs in that the earlier albums are significantly better than the later stuff but on a smaller scale due to less releases). But I feel my original point still stands, REM have at least 5-6 absolute classic albums in their back catalogue (maybe more depending on your opinion of Out of Time) and enough good stuff spread across the remaining 7 (that's a guess) albums.

I love that album too, much prefer it to Invaders must die.

You also forgot the first album, there's some absolute classic tunes on there.

Anyway, my choice this round is REM

Also

Chemical Brothers have released Exit Planet Dust, Dig Your Own Hole, Surrender, Come With Us and Push the Button.

Push the Button is probably my least favourite Chems album, We are the Night and Further are better as are the last two albums (Born in the Echoes and No Geography).
