Yeah, I thought it would be apt should the competition end with someone winning the thing two times in a row. Not his strongest showing, by all accounts, but nor did he look truly wobbly (except maybe in the final, when anyone could have gone at anytime, really).

I have a bad feeling DML is about to leave the forum or quit doing forum games :(

Isn't StayDead firm forum friends with Dala too?

Would he have screamed blue murder had it been the other way round? If Dala had answered false?

Some of his criticism was a bit much, regarding the question. I mean I have had criticisms in this final, but never got personal or said to do the round again.

Just a shame the contest ended like that. Both contestants deserved better, and a win that couldn't be nitpicked over. It, perhaps, shouldn't have gone back to the Atari question. Though it's what Dan wanted, I guess.

Both deserved to win. Double Guru!

Oh God, if Vince hadn't already come back and been eliminated I would be praying for this now!

...so thats it.

After ten long years, after all the fallouts and laughs, tasks and tribulations, all the mistakes and cheating, the ridiculous answers and amazing contestants, the great writing and the amazing knowledge shown....its all over.

GGGC is over.

I would like to thank you all from the very bottom of my heart. I could never have imagined that the contest would take me on the journey that it did, how it evolved, the stories it weaved, the champions it made. When I started I was a bored student and a complete noob on the site. To have been allowed the chance to do this for ten years is an absolute joy.

However, I must thank you for more.

Without your guys trust and belief, other people wouldn't have had the guts to trust and believe in me to. My work in Games Guru has directly affected my life, and has got me behind the wheels of some very real gameshows, both as work and as not. I found myself sat in front of the BBC pitching 'The Advantage', and that was all down to this - because it all started right here. I cannot thank you enough for those memories, and for the chances you gave me.

It would be the greatest DML Twist ever if I could get a show on TV, and by jove I will do my absokute utmost to make that happen.

I'm not perfect by any means, and sometimes I get it wrong, sometimes I can be frustrating. However, i will you remember this contest for the tension, the drama, the tasks that were great and the finals that were epic, the characters that were full and the eliminations that took your breath away.

However, for me - just do one thing. Continue to game. Too many people put down their DSes, cast aside their joypads and be more adult. Don't. Gaming desrves to be enjoyed and championed like any other artform, and I have spent the best part of ten years trying to show anyone who would listen that that is the truth and its truer today then it ever was. Don't let the guys who set up the gaming threads in General Games Chat go un-noticed, go unappreciated whilst the yokels in Off Topic show off. These are the guys who provide content to the site, who provide insight - and like this contest has tried to do...those people deserve to be championed.

I'm incredibly sad - but the contest being put to rest is the best thing to do.

There will be a Closing Ceremony I'll put up later, but for now - just keep on gaming.

I've been DML - and my DECADE is over.

I'm taken aback. These contests always drain me, but they're always the most fun I have on GRcade. I'm literally jiggling, trying to cobble together my route through this contest. It's not been my most shining performance, certainly, but I've always been Mr. Consistent. Ask Drummy - I would always place second in games (except Smash Bros) when there were a few of us playing. Mario Kart? Second. F-Zero? Second. Monkey Ball? Ok, strawberry float Monkey Ball, but I was always bubbling under, but competently so. It just so happens that sometimes consistency can get one through - I may have missed out on the extra lives but I didn't lose any rounds. Slow and steady, and then BAM! (try and) pull it (my ability, not anything sordid) out in the final.

These comps are tough, and I want to thank everyone, particularly Dan, Diabolito and Parksey, for being brilliant opponents, and huge thanks to DML for working his tail off connecting the whole doodad together - a stunning accomplishment.

I'll remember the strong rounds, and the weak rounds. My No More Heroes game (that I did too much work on), my awful James Bond Nightfire review that was (rightly) ripped apart, my Mario Kart track, (S)crappy, Starfox Rodeo, and those are just a few of the things I did for the contest let alone everyone else's fantastic work.

I do feel honoured to win twice. My one wish would have been to have faced off against Invincible; my first GGGC was after his time.

Oh my word, I want to say so much to everyone - particularly to DML - about how much these contests affirmmy love for games, but more importantly those that play them. I just love GGGC, it's always a highlight to see it appear, and always a joy to take part in - even when it gets bumpy.

And now it's going. I don't want it to go  .

I'm really sorry for acting the way I did at the end, but asking that question again was the only fair situation. I realise it was horrible either way since it either lost Dan the game or gave him a huge advantage, but at the time that was definately the fairest rules wise.

Arguably, Dan showed the most knowledge by guessing false to the question anyway, for what turned out to be the "right" reason. Dala answered true, so was off the mark.

Bit of a weird one. Dan wanted the question replayed, mind, so it's hard to argue. Just feels like the situation was pressurised into happening by someone who wasn't playing. Shame the contest hinged on that. Had been largely a dispute-free final (I moan about the first round, but we all had to go through it, so I don't dispute my elimination - it was a crap round, but I performed the crappiest at it, I guess).

By replaying the question it goes back to having 0 advantage to either side. It was the only fair solution.

Oh, yeah, I understand that.

What I was saying was that the result of the question stands - in the sense that Dan saw it correctly as "false" and disputed it, whereas Dala just answered "true", (presumably as a guess on the price?). Dan got the answer right, and in a way, his knowledge was rewarded, really.

Hence why I thought playing on caused fewer problems than bringing it back.

Dan also "lost" twice on the route and in the final with his extra lives so arguably without those he wouldn't have even been in the finals.

That's another issue entirely. No-one bar me said anything about the extra lives, from what I can remember.

I agree about the lives - I think if there is a future contest they shouldn't appear. Eliminations shouldn't be tampered with. If you're out, you're out.

But Dan had them, so that was that. The final was arguably just a routine head-to-head in the end.

When I saw DML on Monday he said he reckoned the final would take around 90 minutes - 2 hours. :slol:

Brilliant contest, massive congrats to Dala and well played everyone else, Dan in particular. Extremely gracious in defeat, lots of people would have kicked up a fuss about it.

And of course, well done to DML. I know he spends a gooseberry fool load of time running these competitions and he deserves all the credit he gets. Obviously I'm sad to see GGGC go. I've only been on here a couple of years but I know of it's history and it's all pretty incredible.

Goodnight sweet prince.

Yes, thank you from the bottom of my heart (but not my bottom, after all this talk of anal) for all the effort over the ten years of GGGC.

Hopefully, you will be conducive to some of my ideas for the future, and we may yet see another DML-run game that isn't quite GGGC, but something new.

What would people like to see in the future, incidentally?

I have lots of ideas. Lots and lots and lots.

Oh and the Catchphrase round was amazing. I'm so pleased with that one in particular, maybe I should have just done four of those!

Drummy's answer of "knocking" to the Zelda question made me laugh loudly out loud. Like, in case she's also not locked out? Like there's a version of her still in the castle that can come and answer?

The Legend of Zelda: Infinite.

I move that we use Giraffes and Swords as the takeaway from this competition, over drugs and anal.

Stare directly at the sun. Good for you. Vitamin D.
