'The GRCade Games Guru Competiton IX'

I didn't understand people calling for general knowledge rounds throughout, tbh. If every round was just 10 questions it would be extremely dull and people could just pop over to Google for the answers. There are many ways to show knowledge of games and the gaming industry.

I didn't call for a general knowledge round, I'd just like to see something better than "you got the most questions right, but because you opened the wacky box and got the wacky prize you are out of the competition" etc.

I think the whole competition should take on the CASH MOUNTAIN formula

I'm surprised Jay offered me a spot on his team considering how badly my return ended up strawberry floating him over last year. :lol:

EDIT: Jay looked to be heading for retaining his guru crown until Drummy hit a box that allowed him to reinstate a player(me), then another box that allowed him to kick someone out(Jay). Predictably, Jay was strawberry floating incensed, DML was like, "uhh my bad guys," and I was like, "Problem?"

In answering a question quickest in the Grand Final I picked a box, much like this year's finalists did. I got a DML Twist, which was to pick someone to eliminate from the contest, after weeks of hard work to get there.

If you look back both myself and Devlin were getting as many boxes as Jay so I wouldn't say it was a foregone conclusion.

I'd say with the Bank Job round - I can sympathise with StayDead's disappointment. However that said - what often happens in a GGGC Final is someone runs away with it. If someone had got 8-9 of the fifteen questions first yesterday - unless they were stupendous unlucky or dumb they would have flown through to the next round. There is normally someone leading in this respect to a certain degree - but as everyone was getting questions, it was really close - and the importance of the boxes and when to leave came to the fore much more.

This. Those rounds and the quickfire Gaming Knowledge rounds are basically the most important ones that prove you're a gaming Guru or not. Flash game round too even if the games aren't always great.

Gaming knowledge is catered for with the Picture/music rounds. And quickfire.

Gaming skill with the Flash games.

The other stuff is just down to people's personal preferences or blind luck.
