Isn't the feeling cold and shivery meaning you have a temperature? Layering yourself up is just going to make you hotter, isn't that the worst thing you could do?

It means the body is trying to create a temperature. Keeping warm with a blanket should be fine. Otherwise the temperature will just be raised by the shivering.

Well I didn't die! Thanks for the concern though Qikz (genuinely, no sarcasm). I was fine wrapped up with the heating on and I just slept most of the day. I feel better now, still a little chilly but not feeling as ill as I did this morning. I'm genuinely more bothered about going on the wall of shame.

Please do not post this in the "No Context" thread

Don't worry about that. It's not been updated since September.

Bumping the thread into 2022. Very tempted to pop the heating on today... temperature in the flat is currently 17.6c.

I failed this weeks ago, central heating back on with the thermostat set to 19 mainly because we get really cold mornings. Once the house gets up to temperature it usually clicks off again so it's not too bad.

I’ve had it off all summer but I noticed a bit of a chill the other day so I put it at 30 mins every morning alone. Back to pleasant climes

It’s cold today so I opened the windows to make it colder so I could get used to it. Will be a treat to close the window!

I have put our heating on this week, though set to a relatively low temperature, so it isn't heating up often yet.

I admire those who can cope with lower temperatures. Once it starts to drop, my feet turn to ice, which triggers regular cramp in my calf muscles. Every winter I go through periods of limping because the cramp has become so bad. I know there are many people with much worse conditions than that, who simply can not afford the rising heating bills, which is very sad.

The silly neighbourhood vegetable.

Interesting that this has been bumped, we turned ours on for the first time two days ago.
