managed to get to 1.16.6 basically no hope in hell of being anything but gooseberry fool on the ranking.

Really struggle to get 3 laps in a row without hitting the strawberry floating trees on the vertical corner or the dirst coming off the vertical corner........ My wasted time is totally in the section with the oil spills as I can't for the life of me workout how I can boost through there....

Time submitted. I can tell from.the past page it's not going to be the fastest, but I don't think it's bad for a first attempt on a game I don't play.

I feel like I'm missing some obvious speed trick here, as I can finish the first lap 1.3 seconds up on the Nintendo staff ghost, then it takes .8 of a lap out of me on the next two :? I'm drift boosting every corner and taking the same lines (I followed it around), Using the mushrooms in the same places. Odd.

Are you collecting the coins? The ghost's first lap is slower because it goes out of its way to pick them up, then they give it the extra speed on the second and third laps.

Had no idea that coins make you go faster in this game.

Yeah you want to make it a priority to get 10 coins asap. The difference between 0 coins and 10 coins is the same difference as the slowest vehicle versus the fastest vehicle (ie if someone chose the slowest vehicle setup in the game but had 10 coins they would go as fast as someone choosing the fastest vehicle setup with 0 coins).

Here's a cool speedrun that taught me a lot:

I know about the coin thing, and tried getting a load on the first lap (most I can get is about 6) but my speed is in the precision of clipping the apexes, so even the slight deviation to get the coins loses me time I can't get back later.

I still need to give this a proper shot, had a couple of warm up runs the other night but after playing so much 50cc with the kids I still need to get my eye back in when it comes to playing at 200!

It is worth the deviation to collect the coins on the first lap - you will make the time back up on having the fastest possible car over two laps and taking the most efficient racing line on those laps.

Also I find racing your own ghost rather than the staff ghost keeps me much more motivated!

Here's my route for 10 coins:

2 from the inside of the corner before anti grav
2 from the inside of the anti grav corner
1 from the jump off of antigrav
3 from the inside of the left turn after antigrav
2 from behind the right oil spill before the last corner.

Thanks I'll try that later. I'm not far off the staff ghost so if I can just get the 10 coins then I'm sure I'll get it.

Hey everyone.

I just had a thought - I see the times as they come in and I feel like having that information is perhaps an unfair advantage as I know where I sit. In the interest of fairness, I think some transparency would be beneficial but in a way that doesn't reveal everyone's placement.

I thought about something along the lines of posting what the mean time is at a specific point in the week.

What do you guys think? Do you have any better ideas?

I don't think you have an unfair advantage. You're trying to get the fastest time possible just like everyone else, so it's not as if you can be tactical. But what about if you didn't open the PMs until the deadline has passed?

I'm all for just posting a live leaderboard, maybe updated at the end of each day. It's a good motivator to know how far ahead someone is, even if you aren't the quickest. For someone like Errkal who has been struggling, it might be encouraging to know you're not far off the next person.
