PostThe GRcade MK8D TT Championship - Week 5 - Ribbon Road (GBA)
by Drumstick » Thu Feb 11, 2021 9:22 pm

In celebration of finally picking up this game and some encouragement from the Switch thread, tonight we are launching the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Time Trial Championship!

Image

Each week, a course will be selected and you will have seven days to race as fast as you can around each circuit and send me your time. I will then reveal the results in an overly dramatic way, full of tension and suspense. Points and times will be recorded and added up over time. Course winners will receive a next to their name.

Please only submit the fastest time you have recorded for each week.

Thanks for setting this up Drum.

Either or for me. Though it might nice to do in a random order of your choice to add another layer of [I-wonder-which-course-is-next / yay-this-is-my-favourite-course] excitement.

Yeah go on I'm in!

Random order for me and 200cc would be my preferred speed!

Forgot 200cc even existed. Guess there'll be 2 TTs to submit then? Though I prefer 150cc myself.

Easy either way but if we're voting I'd prefer 150cc too

Yeah I'd go for 150cc over 200 as well, but I guess there's nothing stopping us doing both?

200cc is the superior choice as there's more to master and arguably multiple different viable racing lines through a course.

I think if this was a drop in drop out thing where you could take part week in week I'd like to sign up, but I can't really commit to do the whole thing.

Actually I've just had a go on 200cc and in time trials its really fun - so either or is good

Don't you just start accelerating when the countdown is on 2?

Pretty much, although I find if I go off the audio I get it wrong and need to go off watching the light instead.

I didn't have a problem on the other mk games, but I've never been able to do it on 8. Not being able to do it has never been a problem until now when we are doing time trials.

I read about accelerating from 2, but its not working for me - so do you literally just hold accelerate when 2 appears or should be as it fades?

I do it when the 2 is fully visible and it seems to work fine

Yeah, but I don't think I could commit to playing every week I'm afraid T_T
