Well I'm starting a new job, so I guess earning some money again will be good, can do a bit more. Want to go to more gigs, check out some new bands I haven't seen yet. I miss that. Also go to some festivals too. Gaming wise I need to get my ps3 fixed/buy new one...and a new hdtv As far as lifelong career goals go, I'm not sure, I know I have skills in art/drawing, so I need to motivate myself and get back into it properly, if I work at getting better, I feel can do something with it maybe. I guess that's about it. or find some other career path that interests me.
I would love to have set up a "company" (to use the term loosely) with a few mates before the end of the year, but it seems like a pretty loose resolution as it might not happen due to factors outside my actual control. But still, it's nice to think about!
I'll have a think and see if I can come back with something proper.
I've always been a big guy. Back in late 2004/early 2005, I was losing around 4lbs per week by going to the gym and drastically cutting down on my calorie, fat and salt intake. The motivation for this was that I was going to visit a friend in America in February 2005. It was great motivation, as I lost *a lot* of weight in a fairly short space of time. However, since that time, I've put it back on. I'm now probably bigger than ever. I don't like being like this, so let's change it, via 2 methods:
- Going on my treadmill 5 times a week - Eating a hell of a lot more healthily by using those guidelines I set 5 years ago
I can do this. Goodbye XL (and sometimes even XXL), hello L and a special hello to size 38 waist jeans! Oh, how I've missed you.
- Bathe and shave more regularly and brush teeth twice daily
I know, I know, the fact that I have this as a resolution is a little disgusting, but hey, I'm going all out here as I need to lead by example. I need to get into a regular routine of doing this, rather than bathing just 3 times a week and brushing once a day (if at all, yipes). Perhaps an electric toothbrush is in order. And a rubber duck. As for the shaving, once a week will do just nicely rather than once every 10 days or so.
- Get a decent, regular sleeping pattern
As you can tell by the time I'm posting this I keep shafted hours. It is in part due to my job, which is more lucrative if I work in the small hours, so there is some sense to it, but it can be improved. I'm not looking to sleep from, say, 11pm-7am or similar, as it just isn't logistical, but even something like 3am-11am would be a big improvement.
- Learn how to use household appliances
As I live at home, I rely, lazily, on my parents to do a lot of things. This means that I have no idea how to work the most basic of machinery, like, for example, the washing machine/tumbledryer. I don't know how to use an iron. I don't know how to make a cup of tea or coffee (to be fair though this is just because I don't drink the stuff). I don't know how to change a lightbulb. Let's change all this, and maybe more.
- Socialise more
Working from home has its drawbacks. It can really affect a social life. It affects mine to the extent that...well, I don't really have one. I can remedy this by going to music gigs, getting in touch with a good friend whom I am sadly no longer in regular contact with and going out on the town a little more often than a couple of times a year. Once a month sounds good; around payday.
- Go on holiday
I haven't been on holiday since the aforementioned trip to America in 2005 (though I don't really class that as a holiday; in which case you have to go back nearly 10 years ago to September 2000 when I went to Spain). So let's go to a music festival, such as Masters of Rock 2010 in the Czech Republic. I already drunkenly agreed to do this with my brother-in-law. Failing that, then maybe even a long weekend in Scotland or somewhere. Anything will do.
- Brush my teeth every day. Really struggling with this. (MAIN) - Get learning how to drive. Been wanting to since 16/17 but never got round to it. I want to do something about that this year - Be more confidence when socialing. Just say what I want to say, be relaxed around people I meet, and don't be too afraid what to say. Doing alright so far but I need put in more effort. - Put in alot of effort when looking for a job.
Finially come up with a decent resolution. Basically, I barely cook at all at the moment, and when I do I just make ridiculously simple meals like stir-fry and variations on pasta. That was pretty normal for a student, but now I'm in the real world it's getting a bit embarrassing (and boring).
So, my resolution is to cook a challenging (or at least different) meal at least once a week.
Woah, Dangerblade, that's some deep stuff in your resolutions there, man, I mean.... you have a treadmill?
My resolution:
To not stay up past midnight anymore doing nothing on the internet.
I'm not talking about staying out all night, I'm not talking about working on something until 4AM, I'm not even talking about being stuck in a really good videogame or reading a good book (yeah, right) till the wee hours. I'm talking about random internet browsing of forums and Youtube that, as much as I like some online communities, often transform me into a passive and insomniac cripple, which sucks; I might as well go back to watching TV for that matter. By staying up late like that I tend to waste the whole next day, since I don't have that "man, we stayed up so late last night but it was totally worth it" aura that kicks me out of bed at 10AM even when I've slept only five hours.
LewisD's Christmas Name wrote:WTF at people not brushing their teeth..
I wasn't given strict routine back then so I ditched brushing my teeth as young days, now I'm starting to regret it at adulthood as I'm finding it bit hard to keep in routine.
My fault really, not everyone else's so I won't point fingers to everyone. Also, this thread reminds me to go and brush now. It's helping me already!
