Bit sad to read that the general opinion forming here is that it's below the quality level of the rest of the series. I haven't even started it yet!

It's still in the top half of the series for me! Bearing in mind that the four games above it are all 9/10 really excellent titles. I think it's a great game and I had a grand time with it.

The Ace Attorneys are basically the Zelda of adventure games/visual novels for me. Even the relative duffers are still worth playing, and this is by no means a relative duffer.

(That ranking, from bottom to top: Apollo, Layton vs Wright, DD, JfA, AAI1, this, the original, AAI2, SoJ, T&T.)

Decent rankings there, my confidence levels have risen accordingly. I will probably never get to play Layton vs Wright now as the physical is ridiculously expensive even second hand, and the digital is never on sale any more.

It’s still a good game. If you love the AA trilogy then you’ll like this.

I never had a problem with it. Also, i liked that case based around the gig. Trying to isolate instruments in a mix was one of the most novel moments in the entire franchise for me (though in truth i can't remember how mechanically complex it was).

Apollo is a great entry in the franchise.

Lies and libel. I never had the same problem with the music case that others seemed to, but all the characters in the middle two cases were bad or uninteresting. Also: worst prosecutor in the series. Only the Big Bad saves it.

The whole point of having a rival prosecutor is to get satisfaction out of grinding their stupid smug faces into the dust. Not that I'm saying that Klavier's face isn't stupid and smug, just that the game never seems to treat this as a problem. Instead it goes out of its way to portray Gavin as a 'nice guy' (despite aforementioned stupidity and smugness). As such beating him doesn't feel satisfying, he doesn't learn anything, he doesn't get an arc, and then he turns up again in DD spouting the same bollocks. I might feel differently if I fancied him like AA Twitter seems to.

Interestingly TGAAC does a decent job of doing a nice, relatable prosecutor that you still want to thump into reason. Spoilers i guess.

i too like all 6 games. but i feel klavier is a complete non character. zero personality. and whats the point in air guitaring when youve got an actual guitar, just bring it to the court man they let swords and whips in there.

I just remembered why I can’t be arsed with Apollo. Klavier is such a boring character.

But still I would like 4-5-6 to be released as well. It would be nice to have a full collection digitally.

Worth it for 6 alone IMO.

He's meant to be based around a 'death god', so... yep.

Even by the standards of previous games, the trials in this are ridiculous.

Case 1x04- If I'm a defence lawyer and one of the jury is the defendent's landlady, I'm immediately calling for a mistrial or alternative juror.

Meh, nobody's actually committing GBH in a courtroom (see: Franziska whipping Phoenix into unconsciousness). I can buy into it.
