I don't even know what genre I'd put them in now based on what I've heard of their newer stuff.

Is "gooseberry fool" a genre? ;)

Muse are one of the most influential proc-gen indie-like bands of the last decade.

Awesome, the balancing is poor in the first area (The Showbiz Asylum) but its worth pushing through.

Yikes! OK so you'll definitely want to avoid Spotify for your first listen. Try and get hold of a vinyl copy of Absolution and Origns of Symmetry to start with - this should really get you into Muses guitar sounds and Matt Bellamys unique vocals.

After that (and if you're enjoying it!) maybe listen to a few tracks from Black Holes and Revelations (BHR). This album was a huge departure for the band where they took a more prog rock route. Very brave at the time.

Obviously pm me with any more questions! And enjoy!

Zweispeaker, really? He's going to get absolutely destroyed by the Knights of Cydonia
