I've noticed the majority of tunes posted here are relatively "old". My collection holds most of these too. Hip Hip used to be my favourite genre since I was around 11 or so. Used to have a massive collection but more or less stopped listening to it into the 00's. I still listen to my old stuff but I find the newer hip hop to be pretty dreadful. The chart stuff is seriously dull. Even the chart stuff when I was listening to it was still good.

All I hear now is Kanye, Li'l Wayne and shitty "dirrrrrrrrrrrrrty South" stuff. Shame really. I'd be interested to know if there are any artists around at the moment who people can recommend.

I fell out of love with hiphop for a while but discovered my love for it again after coming across these 3 guys.

Kendrick Lamar album Section 80 is a wonderful album from a very talented guy who's work is seriously worth checking out.

Would also recommend Atmosphere - When life gives you lemons is a wonderful album, one of my favourites. Is a bit of an oldie, but if you've never heard any of Atmosphere's stuff then your missing out.

Lastly need to mention Blueprints latest album - "Adventures in Counter-Culture" it's strawberry floating ace.

Not sure if you're a fan of Kanye West or not but i fell in love with him after listening to his last album "my beautiful dark twisted fantasy" such an amazing album and well worth a listen to if you haven't already heard it.

I've not heard anything good from Kanye since College Dropout, I've even gone off that now. That latest one with Jay Z is just abysmal. No effort has gone into the production or lyrics at all. :fp:

Spoilered because I hate it:

Jay Z should have retired after the Black Album. Like he said he would do.

Probably his best album. The College Dropout has more good tracks, but Twisted Fantasy's best songs are better than Dropout's ones and it has his two best songs by far (Power and Runaway).

Loved Monster as well, especially Nicki Minaj's verse

My favourite song off of The College Dropout is a tie between Two Words and Jesus Walks

common misconception of modern hip hop, this is why so many people linger in the past or choose to listen gay pack packer hip hop because they're too afraid to just enjoy something like juicy j, which sends people mental in clubs because it's fun

but yeah, ill bill

I am not a fan of that Kanye stuff. I got bored of him pretty quickly. I also hate Power due to it being used on too many trailers and adverts.

Yes.

Try...

Killer Mike - R.A.P. Music
Roc Marciano - Marcberg
Black Milk - Tronic
Oddisee - 101
Action Bronson - Dr. Lecter

Should all be easy enough to find.

You should get back in the game Mitch Yost.

I love OutKast. It's a shame the vast majority of people that love their mainstream hits like Hey Ya (quite comfortably their worst song by far) don't realise that pretty much all of their other stuff, particularly the older albums, are a lot better.
