spotify embeds are weird, you have to do this:

[spotify]*spotify:*album:1KHFw3hsKvNGGCkXKQMrbT*[/spotify]
without the asterisks of course. so the Little Simz would be:

Donda's good imo. Too long and clearly unfinished, but at its core very strong and emotionally real with a lot of great songs.

Certified Boy Lover on the other hand is like, uh, another drake project I guess. It's way better than scorpion but very little of it stood out to me.

Aye I've only heard about half of it but the Drake schtick is wearing very thin at this point. At least Kanye keeps mixing it up.

This is the best piece I've read on Donda, and Kanye's evolution:

The comments are a dumpster fire though.

Honestly I got close to falling asleep a couple of times while listening to CLB

She gets lots of air time on 6music and I've always liked those singles. Actually sitting down and listening to her albums now - so bloody good.

She's touring atm so thinking about getting tickets.

Little Simz I admire and recognize her craft, but here tone falls flat for me which is a shame. Haven't tried her latest, though.

I still periodically go back to Donda, and now I've sorted out some punchy bass in my car it's revitalized it enough for some more listening - Jail's Jay-Z verse is so good and even better that you have to wait 2/3rds through to hear it - like a slow-build to the best bit.

Off-The Grid is a banger even though the double Fabio is a bit long for me.

Heaven and Hell is almost a Kanye all-timer for me, too? Even though I think his lyrics on Donda become one note in their fixation on abstract religiosity instead of specific (though often goofy) references and stuff of old, his flows are great and the acapella drop and kick-in of Heaven and Hell is so so sick.

New again I love - classic Kanye Goofy start and great electro pulse, it's got the colourful feeling I wanted from Waves on TLOP.

That's all I can think of for now but overall I like Donda a lot - it's highs are a lot of fun - but there's just too much stuff I skip through to make it a cohesive listen.

Yeezus still the GOAT for me.

Kanye's released Donda's Deluxe Edition. Because what that album definitely needed is 5 additional songs (up to 32 now).

Will give it a listen at some point. If he chopped it down to 10 or 11 and cleaned up the tracks a little, it could be a really good album.

As is, I think it's his fourth weakest (JiK is the shittest, then Ye, followed by 808s despite the oversized impact that one has had)

I'm just glad he put Life of the Party in, through the 3stacks verse alone it's the best song from the project. The bleeps exclusively on the feature verse are really strawberry floating offputting, but Kanye not including the Drake diss was a good move and the added samples of Biggie's voice were honestly a genius move and contribute beautifully to the track.

One of my New Year's resolutions is to give more music a go in the genres I have a blind spot for and hip-hop and classical music are probably my two biggest. I use to like the early Kanye albums a lot and the bigger hits from people like Eminem but I've never really delved into it beyond that.

Someone recommended Midnight Marauders by A Tribe Called Quest to me, and it's superb, so looking for some more recommendations if anyone has any?
