Incredible album. Midnight in a perfect world's my favourite track from it.

Went to see him a few years ago but sadly his output's been massively downhill since his debut.

I really want a Kendrick Lamar album produced by Kanye West. Still think the vast majority of his solo stuff is massively overrated aside from a handful of songs mostly from his second album.

Thought so. Yeah I agree with you. I'm not sure why he's being lauded as some kind of saviour. I bought GK,MC expecting a triumph; I got a decent hip-hop album with some great tracks and some duffers. I just don't think he's that good of a rapper TBH. Haven't bothered with TPAB, I heard 'I' and thought it went too far beyond sampling and into full-on ripping-off the other artist (I am a big Isley Bros. fan though) so I never followed the rest of the album up.

To Pimp A Butterfly was virtually all wanky, experimental gooseberry fool compared to his other two albums. It wasn't for me.

This 100%. Couldn't get into it at all, properly like about 3 songs :| Hate it when rappers get short dreads, go all 'artistic' and release shite thinking its genius.

Went to see Angel Haze last week, incredible.

She came into the crowd rapping this:

and met her after it for a pic. Best gig in ages and was sober too :o

Going to see The Game next month again, can't wait :datass:

I love To Pimp a Butterfly. Took me 3 or 4 listens but once I did I thought it was great. I must admit as well, when I saw Kendrick live I was absolutely blown away. Maybe because it was my first rap show apart from OFWGKTA but it was incredible.

the state of the opinions in this thread

'kendrick overrated'
'not even a good rapper'
'wanky experimental'

i dont even particularly like him but he is a major major talent with some imagination and skill. he blows most of the competition out of the water.

He is a brilliant rapper, but his last album wasn't good overall, about half was. Just because you rap about black power, conscious topics and have trumpets doesn't make it special.

Think his some of his earlier mixtapes and first album are near classic level though.

Actually forgot about that one. It's the least wanky song on that album and pretty good.
