This thread shall remain free of all talk Street Fighter related. This is a last bastion of hope for those that don't like beat-em-ups or can't afford £700 to play the banana spliting game properly with all manner of plastic bits of gooseberry fool.

Anyone who mentions that game will be banned.

Without actually mentioning 'that game', I will say that its entirely possible to have a good time playing it without spending anything extra on peripherals.

Still Race Pro is better.

You do it on purpose. It isn't at all, and you bloody well know it. (Though I'll let you table an amendment to your last: it's a better racing game than SFIV...)

I played lots of both of them yesterday and despite SFIV being huge amounts of fun and possibly the best beatemup ever (certainly online)...I had more fun playing Race Pro.

Ergo its a better game.

I like fighting games, but I just don't like SF, it never clicked with me. I want to like it, just like I want to like MGS, Final Fantasy and Beautiful Katamari, but I just don't enjoy it :|

Personally, I think a beat-em-up like SC4 makes a good case for those us not that into fighting games. Soul Calibur is not - and never has been - a 'serious' fighting franchise, so it tends to overdo the graphical sheen, bouncy breasts, impractical outfits and slightly silly ham-fisted theatrics, rather than worry too much about hardcore moves, framecounts and all the rest.

Soul Calibur 4 - the fighting game for the rest of us. Where else will you find Star Wars characters completely inappropriately shoehorned into an otherwise perfectly respectable franchise for no discernable reason? :fp:

From what I've played so far SFIV does a pretty good job of appealing to both the hardcore and people like yourself...I'd definitely recommend you try it at least.

I strawberry floating hate fighting games. I've done martial arts for 15 years and nothing I've ever attempted has been even remotely as difficult as learning the cuntin' buttons to those things.

Street Fighter? Street Shiter.

Neither of which is in any way relevant to what I said as both go without saying.

i think the point he's making is that you can compare and prefer games across genres. which seems fair to me.

Halo is plainly a better shooter than PES, but PES is a better game of football, and i prefer PES thus PES is the better game as far as I'm concerned.

...so basically you prefer football games to FPS'? :?

It's really pushing the boat on subjectivity that one. It's just a bit of a bizarre argument or discussion to have - I've got no idea what basis you'd even begin to compare the games on if the two of them were pretty decent i.e one wasn't just flat out shite, regardless.

And Halo's probably a better strawberry floatin' football game than that PES.

If you prefer one game over another, then that game is 'better' than the other...it doesn't matter what genre the two games are, be it the same, similar or completely different.

Also any time anyone says X is better than Y, they are stating their opinion, they have no need to say they are stating it for this to be the case, it is in fact completely redundant to do so.

I just don't know how comparing a racing game and a fighter like SFIV really achieves anything.
