About the worst that's happened to me was dislocating my right knee-cap 3 years ago playing 5-a-side. Went in to try and get the ball, kicked it at exactly the same time as someone else from the opposite direction, then I just went down and felt incredible pain, and on looking down my kneecap had moved about 90 degrees around my knee. Apparently the screams made everyone else feel ill :slol:
I had 4 shots of morphine, 2 canisters of anaesthetic gas and a bottle of liquid paracetamol on an IV drip and was still in pain. Then when I got to hospital and put in a cubicle, a doctor just walked in, cracked his knuckles, told me "Brace yourself" and then with a loud popping noise the pain suddenly disappeared.

Couldn't walk for 3 weeks and needed physiotherapy for 2 months after that :dread:

Headache, sore throat, temperature... Great way to spend the weekend. I think I caught whatever it is on the plane home last Tuesday and it has only fully surfaced now.

Fell down a metre and a half into a bus lane after climbing through some railings down an angled bit of concrete, over-everted and snapped my ankle. Went to hospital, diagnosed as just a minor sprain to walk off. As a result of trying to walk it off developed synovitis (inflamed synovial fluid in the joint) and scar tissue which caught in the talofibular joint, so I ended up lesions on both the talus and the fibula. 8 doctors, three diagnoses and 18 months of ridiculous pain being unable to walk to the end of my road on bad days later (NHS were awful about it so ended up private) ended up having an arthroscopy to take out a load of scar tissue and shave off the bone to even it out. The injury was in 2010... Extensive physio later and it's still bad sometimes, especially in the cold, and I can't sit cross legged or evert my ankle too much - especially with downward pressure. My gait pattern's ruined so when I do play sport (can only really play cricket now... football and rugby are a bit too risky) or go running, all my injuries occur on my right hand side. Meh. It's made me bitter in the sense that I see people complaining about "Long term injuries" which keep them out for 4 months when I've been in pain of differing degrees for about three years now without any real prospect of it getting a lot better. Need to go back to my surgeon at some point really to see if there's anything else that can be done...

On Wednesday the dentist had to drill a hole up through the bottom of one of my molar teeth into the gum above it to make a hole for the pus and blood to drain out and reduce the swelling. By far the most painful thing that has ever happened to me and I never ever want to experience it again.

I have to plug the hole every 12 hours with a new piece of cotton to soak up the pus that's slowly coming down and on Monday they're gonna fill the tooth back up. :dread:

Bump.

And this year's illness is.... shingles. :dread: Like Lotus on the previous page, I have it down one of my sides and it's spreading across my back. At first I thought I had bruised a rib somehow because there was nothing on the surface for the first few days, then on Thursday I spotted two big red blister type things and feared the worse. It's still mild at the moment but the doctor said it would get worse before it got better. Wonderful. It burns like son of a bitch. Gonna be an enjoyable month ahead.

I've had several pressure ulcers over the past few years, mostly on my back and left side. last year I had a really bad one which was agonizing for several weeks, I was prescribed morphine patches for the pain and was visited by Tissue viability specialist to discuss possible alternative treatments as the dressings I was using weren't working.

After a few weeks with different dressings (and putting honey in the ulcers) things had dramatically improved and despite a few minor sores here and there, things have been a lot better.

I'm still having trouble with a sore on my ankle though, It's been there for a couple of years and never fully heals. I'm currently using a new kind of dressing designed for non-healing wounds but they're unbelievably painful to use/remove.

Loads of people have been sick off work the past couple of weeks. I've not been lucky enough to come down with anything. :(

I've had a bit of a cold for over a week now. Nothing major, but it doesn't seem to be passing. I've just given it to everyone else and kept it too.

For real problems, I have a messed up lower disc. Not officially a "slipped disc" but more of a bulge I believe. Had it for 3 years and it's getting worse because the Dr's have no idea what to do about it. I don't think I've been comfortable in all that time and can't sit down for too long without it pressing on the nerves. That affects me legs. I can walk fine, but they ache around the knees and I get very sensitive nerves in my legs. Started out just on left, but now right side wants to join in. Clicky knees that sound horrific but Dr says it's nothing to worry about. Sadly I don't believe a word most GP's say as usually they just tell you to take paracetamol for everything.

Having injections into my back that are steroid based eventually. strawberry float knows how long a referral for that takes in London :dread: .

Could be worse though. People with bad backs can barely move sometimes.

I had a brain haemorrhage 2 years ago, with the very real possibility of having more.

Oh and epilepsy. Epilepsy can go suck a dick.

Think I might have bruised a rib. Had a major coughing fit last night and most of the day today it hurts if I cough/sneeze/laugh or just move around in a way that puts pressure on my chest/sides.

I'm currently nursing a migraine, it's not a particularly bad one but it's still not pleasant.

My ankle is slightly less sore though.
