If you were at the Bank of England, you'd do an Eddie Hitler with our banknotes wouldn't you?

Until we revoke their independence and regain control.

You could fit all the planets of the solar system in the gap between the Earth and the Moon.

Unbelievable Jeff.

Iv'e never seen the moon as a planet myself, more like a large inverted crater.

The moon isn't a planet though, it's a satellite.

I've been thinking about this for hours now and I still have no idea what that means.

It's only been 1 hour and 8 minutes.

WHAT IS AN INVERTED CRATER?

YOU MEAN LIKE A HILL?

YOU THINK THE MOON IS A HILL?

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?

So I just realised my analogy would only account for half of the moon.

Although I still contest that the moon is less of a planet than, say, Mars - and some people think that's a chocolate bar of some kind.

Did anyone even call the moon a planet? By official definition it is not.

Well, it's big enough to be.

Some people regard the earth and moon together to be like a twin planet system.

Wasn't the moon a planet that crashed into us?

Or did I imagine that?

And what if the moonpigs see the earth as just being their moon?

The Moon's largest natural satellite is the planet "Earth", home to some minor species and the rampantly successful nematode hordes.

The IAU definition of a planet requires a body to 1) orbit the sun, 2) be nearly round in shape, and 3) have "cleared its neighbourhood".

It can be useful to think of the Earth/Moon as a binary system, but the barycenter (point around which the two bodies orbit) is within the radius of the Earth. Therefore the Moon is orbiting the Earth, hence by point (1) is not a planet in its own right.

And yes the preferred hypothesis for the formation of the Moon is that a Mars-sized object collided with the Earth, and the Moon formed out of the collision.
