I just love the idea of the comic relief gluttonous character being one of the most powerfulwhen they actually decide to do something other than obsess over food or Yuno

She was one of my faves in the manga.

I ended up buying a subscription to Viz/Shounen Jump. Caught up on Sakamoto days and Spy X Family. I was already reading Hero academia and Kaiju number 8, but I'll check out Dr Stone and maybe Jujutsu Kaisen at least because I liked their respective anime.

Does Asta get more bearable going forward? I'm finding him a bit grating right now. Like Edward Elric, only without the trauma of the dead mum/swallowed brother to ground him.

He calms down quite a bit, mainly because of Yami threatening to kill him if he doesn't stop shouting but also when the other team members start to believe in him more Finral and Vanessa especially.

He still screams during battle though.

I find Noelle a lot more annoying now but even she is improving her attitude.

Ah, I knew I liked Yami.

One Piece 265 - Loving hearing chatter between the world government goons on Enies Lobby   Makes a change from how serious Lucci and the other 3 usually are

Jojolion done. It was the first part reading it as it was releasing for me, and I dunno if that hurt it, but the entire part felt pretty weak and meandering, especially coming off of SBR.

It had a pretty big cast, but nobody was really utilised, it felt like new concepts kept getting added without really going anywhere for any reason, and a lot of the abilities and fights were pretty boring. Towards the end I just felt like I was waiting for it to end so we could just move on.

I'm quite torn on JoJolion.

For a good two thirds of the part it was shaping up to be one of my favourites with some interesting mysteries surrounding Josuke, Kira and Morioh itself but once they were cleared up the intrigue was gone. For a long while it felt like Jobin was being built up to be the main antagonist but after most of the Rock Humans were dealt with he was completely sidelined in favour of the endless calamities surrounding Tooru and the Head Doctor. The Spin making its return thanks to Rai and the reveal of Soft & Wet: Go Beyond was a real highlight in that final battle though, without that it would have been a real slog for sure.

Steel Ball Run also dragged a little with the monthly releases so I'm sure JoJolion will be more enjoyable reading it more rapidly in the future. Onwards to Part IX... I do think Araki should retire after this though, the absolute workhorse has been going non-stop for decades now.

Black Clover ep63 and ep64: holy hell!

MEGA SPOILER
Wasn't expecting Asta to become so unbelievably powerful but the Witch queen is quite frankly terrifying.

Vanessa acquiring the 'thread of fate' spell was excellent, especially in the form it took, that cat had best become a permanent fixture.

I had nothing against that part of the manga, but I think that's where I stopped reading. (Is the witch queen the one in the woods?)

That's the part of Black Clover I hear really good things about. Chapter 70-140 or so is supposed to be very high quality.

Just checked and, yeah, I stopped on 87. Will give that arc another go, when I have the time tonight.

The animation quality of the last few episodes I've watched seems to be a lot better too, a couple of the fight sequences were superbly done, very reminiscent of some of the JoJo scenes with unusual colour choices and angles.

Some great colour pages in that final chapter of JoJolion and for me The Radio GaGa Incident epilogue chapters somewhat made up for the disappointing final arc.
Highlights have to be the confirmation that Fumi is SBR-verse Joseph Joestar, the Clackers showing up briefly and the humanoid form of Hermit Purple reveal. Also funny how every version of Joseph has his wallet stolen.

Joseph likely unknowingly having a child with his girlfriend before leaving for America with Lucy Steel and meeting Suzi Q explains why Josefumi had the birthmark.

A number of plot threads left open or ignored in typical Araki fashion but hopefully Part IX/JoJoLands adds some more details about the Wall Eyes, Devil's Palm and Rock Human connection.

Jujutsu Kaisen manga: the heart-to-heart after they killed the brothers was a nice touch. (Both the layout and the dialogue.) And the chapter about the IT'S LIKE THAT girl was cute.

That flashback arc is JJK at its best. Toji and his unique Heavenly Restriction were interesting and when he shows up you know gooseberry fool is going to hit the fan. Really felt for Riko and the hand she was dealt.
