I did not care for it.

I sometimes wish I didn't feel things.

I may re-read the manga up to that point to get the full force of the emotional punch to the heart.

Talking of Mugen Train, do I watch the movie then or wait for the (presumably more fleshed out) episode version?

Dunno what others will say, but I'll be watching the movie first.

Quoting this for interest.

If you've left it until now to watch the movie and the anime is adding extra content to pad it out a bit then I'd choose the anime version. Then again I am a monster who prefers the extended LoTR to the theatrical cut and didn't hate The Hobbit. :shifty:

That one is a no-brainer. But the movie version of Mugen Train will have higher production values than the episodic version, no? So, still worth checking out.

EDIT: Wait. WHAT?! You could stand the Hobbit?! strawberry floatin' 'ELL.

I also had no issue with it being 3 movies. *hides*

I was under the impression that the episodic version would be using the movie footage with some added scenes sprinkled throughout rather than redoing everything but worse like DragonBall Super did. Episode 1 was certainly done to a high standard.

Ah. Okay. That's fair enough, then. Not the Hobbit thing, though. That's just awful and you should feel bad. (I've tried twice trying to get into them but couldn't make it past the initial meeting at Bilbo's place.)

I've been getting back into anime as of late, specifically Mobile Suit Gundam, something i'd always been tangentally aware of but hadn't really paid attention to before. I've watched the 3-film adaptation of the original 1979 series as that's all I can find on Netflix, and have decided to go back to watch the entire Universal Century plot arc in chronological order, starting with the Origin prequel series. After the first episode i've realised I probably should have started with the prequel as i'm probably going to have to re-watch the original series as a lot of the events in it will make a lot more sense and have a lot more weight to them, particularly the stuff aroundChar getting his revenge on the Zabi family throughout the series.

Needless to say I also have a burgeoning shelf full of the model kits too :shifty:

I don't blame you for having a shelf of Gundam model kits. Every time I check out the series I end up seriously considering some Gunpla and spend hours watching reviews, builds and repaints on YouTube. :slol:

It all started because I found two separate tabletop wargame rulesets for actually doing something with them in a game and the majority of them are significantly cheaper than Games Workshop for things of the same size, otherwise I wouldn't have bothered, I have enough models on my shelves that have a purpose without lots more bigger ones that don't. I'm trying to keep it to broadly the timeframe of the original series and a few after to prevent just going absolutely mad.

I've spent the last year and a bit watching through the entire of Gundam including the non UC stories and god damn it's all so good. I would definitely recommend watching in UC order, but I'm saving Origin for last once I've seen everything else.

I've finished the UC bar Origin and I'm currently watching Seed.

I was dubious as i've found most sci fi prequels - Star Wars Ep 1-3, Star Trek Enterprise etc - to be pointless backlog filler to extend The Brand(TM) without actually adding any new information of value. I've watched 4 of 6 episodes of Origin so far and it's absolutely brilliant and I stand corrected from my previous statement about starting with it. Origin is way, way waaaaay better if you've seen the original series, and I am really looking forward to going back to the originals now with this in mind as it gives a lot more about Char's motivations as well as the rest of the Zeon commanders and ties in a bit of what Amuro's dad was doing beforehand too. I definitely want to do the UC first as I tried a bit of 00 but didn't get on with it for a few episodes but as it's a lot longer than an OVA series i'm sure it'll bed in. Also I want to avoid getting drawn into buying more gunpla...:shifty:

Thing is with Origin is it's technically an otherworld story in a weird way but yeah it does tie up with everything. I've heard it's some of the best Gundam ever which is why I'm saving it until last. :toot:

It gets better. You're still at the world building/preamble. Although I even enjoyed that and what came before. (The pre-preamble on Jaya, everything that goes on at Jaya and Mock Town, erm, the shadows (!), the Mont Blanc Cricket stuff, the knock-up stream and running into Teach and the speech he gives... loved it all. The bit you're at is a bit of a lull though.)

One more episode of Black Clover left and I was thinking there's no way this is getting wrapped up in one episode. Glad to hear its just having a long break and there'll be more episodes later on.

Wait what!? Do we know how long?

I'm on episode 120-odd, and somewhere in the last 70 episodes or so I finally got into Black Clover. I still think it's ham-fisted at times, and it needs to tune down the fanservice towards 15-year-old girls (Jesus Christ Fana 2.0 :fp: ), and every time Henry or Charmy open their mouths I want to hit mute... but the art's got better, Asta's more bearable, Yami is a good dad as is Klaus, the sodding elves have mostly gone, and they're finally dealing with the two mostly absent kingdoms. Also Gordon can talk now which is nice.

So yep, into it, and was looking forqard to blazing through to the end. But apparently there's no end to blaze through to? :(
