The new season of MHA has been super good, caught up yesterday with my brother. Also then started watching Shaman King which is also amazing.

Black Clover is getting ridiculously good now, definitely better than the first few episodes would suggest.

Ep84
Yuno doing an Asta by combining with his spirit companion (which she seemed a little too happy about) was unexpected, as was Rill being so powerful - had to laugh when everything went full on Dragonball and they destroyed the mountain.

Equal parts hilarious and terrifying. Love how she took out the aliens by going straight for the schlong.

Loving the art! Some of it is so unnerving, like the one in chapter 1 with the spirit next to a tree, but then you have silly stuff like the race to go take a poo  Oh and, Turbo Granny tunnel entrance felt like a nod to Mob Psycho. (Entrance is VERY reminiscent of a scene from the anime.)

I find the artstyle in general to be very appealing, the monster designs are creepy and grotesque and I'm really looking forward to seeing what pops up in future chapters. Some of those double page spreads and perspective shots though... :datass:

The series wouldn't be half as good without the silly stuff like that.

I was enjoying it so much I'm sad to be all caught up. :(

Oh crap. I'm on 7 already. (Though I am so pooped after work I can barely do anything, so that should help make it last a few more days than it should.)

Turbo Granny? More like Sweary Granny! The mouth on her. And yet more amaze splash pages. (The fine line work on the monsters )

Finished Water 7 arc on One Piece anime. (Garp's coming for them ) There is so much packed in there and it all gels superbly well. So much so, that, it probably is the first great arc. Alabasta will always have a special place in my heart because of THAT one moment, but Water 7 has so many such moments, and they are all even more impactful. (In terms of emotion and overall importance.) Great stuff.

Oh strawberry float off  I KNEW Turbo Granny would end up being a supporting character. I just can't believe I didn't think they'd find a way to er, cutify her.

Dandadan is probably the funniest manga I've read. Finished chapter 12 and am in hysterics again.

Aira reminds me of Teruhashi from Saiki Kusuo no Psi-nan with the way she goes on about herself.

omfg that's totally spot on

omfg 2: there's a scene in c16 which is freakishly similar to something I wrote many a year ago. For a GCSE class. Which made my English Lit teacher so concerned he took me aside to have a word with me :slol: (the ripping off the jaw scene) Again, the art in that scene is great, ditto the humour in the follow-up panel.

It told so much backstory in those pages without the need for much in the way of dialogue. A proper gut punch. :(

One Piece anime 337 and 338: Brook's first episode in the amine is one of the best moments yet  Everything from and including Usopp being wound up, to when Brook finally spoke had me cracking up. It was so good.

It was.

Me being hyper critical:

I think 16 would have ended even better if they hadn't spelled her story out completely, and had used the start of 17 to end it. The splash page where her aura is first touched would have been so much more impactful that way.

Inspired by the trailer (and awesome trailer song) of the new Evangelion film my brother and I decided to watch the Rebuild films this week, having only seen the series before.

1 was good and the Gun Battle ending was great.

2 though was really fantastic. Everything I could want out of an anime movie, really. The pacing was punchy, the character development was charming and involving, and some of the action was Make You Want To Go Straight To The Gym visceral. And when That music kicked in during the berserk scene at the end I nearly exploded. Such a beaut, looking forward to the next two.

My only real qualm is the new artstyle which is far more generic for the characters than the brilliantly old-school sharp chins and nose style of the series. They all look a bit Beyblade and glossy.

But this is outweighed by how entertaining the second film is in every other way.
