Ah that's a shame, I didn't realise she'd been ill.

D.Gray-Man was one of the first series I bought when I started getting into manga in my teens, I might have to try picking it up again.

I'll have to look into Golden Kamuy, too much talk for me to ignore it.

So this was a complete lie, so far Momo has been nothing like Anya - but I have enjoyed March. I really got on with Hikaru No Go, so I've got a history of getting on with board game animes. Really liked most of the characters. (Oh, and S2's on CrunchyRoll for free if you fancy it.)

That said, the bloody sister reminded me of an abusive ex of mine, so that was... 'fun'.

In my defense, they're both toddlers with pink hair, and I had only seen one episode of Spy Family at the time! :shifty:

Golden Kamuy - Er, Shack Arc? :? It's freaking amazing. The setup and revelations have been great, and best of all Asirpa has pulled off a couple of amazing faces  One of which was THAT FACE they put on Uniqlo UT t-shirt, the t-shirt which I will now forever regret not buying.

No. It happens after they've been to the horse races.

You know a manga is good when it gets the Oda seal of approval.

It really is fantastic so far.

Golden Kamuy - Tanigaki's mochi story :( It's over so quickly but still has such an impact. Top notch writing and pacing.

I'm partway through Hunter x Hunter's 2011 anime. I'm enjoying it, but I'm a bit concerned about it and would appreciate some clarification from anybody who's seen it already, through to the end. It's regarded as a classic, so I presume somebody here must have seen it already!

My big worry is, does it have a satisfying conclusion? I'm just at the bit where Kurapika kills the first Phantom Troupe member, but I've read that the anime ends after maybe the fourth arc of the manga, at which point the head of the Troupe is still alive - in fact he's still alive in the manga as it stands! Considering what a nasty piece of work he appears to be (see: Kurta genocide), the fact that I won't see him get his comeuppance feels like a massive problem. Is it? Or does the anime still manage to stick the landing despite that?

Also Ging Freeccs is an arse, and I don't know whether the show ever acknowledges this. If it doesn't I feel like that's another mark against it.

Bit of a shame you did some Googling to learn that.

The anime is fantastic and does end well but you'll benefit from reading the manga which is further ahead (although given its over a decade ago, it really ought to be much further than it is).

Without spoiling too much there is a mostly satisfying end to Gon and his story and it is acknowledged that Ging is a bit of a gooseberry fool person. The Phantom Troupe come back in to focus with a brilliant Hisoka arc before switching over to Kurapika serving as the MC in the current complex and intriguing arc.

Thanks for the info. Is that last sentence of yours in the anime or the manga, Jay?

That last sentence is in the manga.

As the manga reaches its last arc, the focus shifts to a different Big Bad and Chrollo takes a back seat. He's referenced now and again, and the spiders still feature, but don't expect a resolution to his arc.

That said, I still think that the anime has a satisfying, if slightly bittersweet ending.

This is what I was afraid of (I presume you meant 'anime' instead of 'manga'!) - and (David) the reason I looked it up in the first place. I've honestly never been much of a manga/graphic novels in general person, so I doubt I'll ever get the conclusion I hanker for. Thanks for confirming, might focus on my other animes for now (Komi, Spy, March) and see how I feel about this one down the line.

Ah yes, I did mean anime, sorry! I do feel like it's still worth watching, though, as the final arc is fantastic.

Though to be honest, at the pace Togashi writes, we probably won't get a proper resolution in the manga, either.

Holy strawberry floating gooseberry fool Berserk is continuing!

I am so glad it is under the supervision of Miura's longtime friend Kouji Mori.
