Golden Kamuy ep10

The ear slicing scene was unexpectedly brutal even after what happened in the previous episode

They must have trimmed a lot in the anime bc I only just to that bit today in the manga. Happens around chapter 50, that.

I'll not post it incase you haven't seen it in the manga but I think I've just seen a bit of foreshadowing that I hope doesn't happen.

Golden Kamuy is rapidly becoming one of my favourite animes, I've never seen anything so simultaneously violent, hilarious, strange and oddly educational (the Ainu stuff).

Yet more Golden Kamuy:

They've shifted focus once again in the manga and this time it doesn't feel quite as smooth or exciting as the other time they did it. On the plus side they're paying homage to Yojimbo (a fantastic - and I don't mean in a artsy fartsy kind of way - Akira Kurosawa film *everyone* should watch) and so I'm getting a kick out of that. And this is clearly going for a longer set up approach than the previous focus shift, so there's still time for it to deliver the goods.

As long as it's not foreshadowing an end to the soup poop jokes I'll be mostly fine with it.

The thing I love about Golden Kamuy is how it can seamlessly go from ultra violence in one scene, to cooking in the next then do comedy about Asirpa thinking Miso is made from poo before becoming a documentary on Ainu customs and traditions.

Has Dunn (American ranch owner) showed up yet in the anime? This latest situation they're in is strawberry floating insane  Bears on the outside, psycho on the inside and Asirpa fascinated with how far a bear shot its rectal plug

Murata and others confirmed that it is indeed Togashi. If it means we'll get another volume I'm really going to need to re-read the current arc because it has been so long since the last chapter was released and it was already getting more complicated than normal.

D.Gray-man is in a similar position, keep forgetting that it is actually still ongoing because it only gets like 4-6 chapters a year right now and every time I remember to read I've forgotten what happened. :slol:

The author Katsura Hoshino has had a number of health issues and a stint working as a character designer for the Valvrave the Liberator anime. Due to multiple hiatuses Shueisha switched the magazine 4 or 5 times going from Weekly Shounen Jump to Akamaru Jump and then the Jump Square family getting quarterly or monthly releases which has led to a lot of online discussion dying off in the west. It's a shame as the author is very talented but hasn't been able to show off much of what she can do the last decade or so.

I'm surprised it's not included in the Viz Shounen Jump subscription, it's not available for one-time reading on MangaPlus either :x MangaSee123 have it for online reading, one of the better pirate sites but not on the same level as MangaDex.
