Absolutely agreed. One of my favourites although I was getting fed up with the anime at that stage. The 1 chapter per episode pacing has annoyed me for years but in particular:

Caesar Clown is no actual competition in the manga for Luffy doing a Gear 3 Haki embedded punch in the final fight whilst the anime shows a tug of war style push against each until Luffy's punch breaks through and then lands.

Great moments in the arc though are Law being part of the Crew / Zoro being insanely bad ass and again having a post time skip fight arc where his opponent is vastly below his level to provide any sort of challenge. And Luffy's inhalation of the poison gas with no issue and the reaction faces from everyone.

It's in the name. Guy's a clown. He comes off as a classic comical heel and yet he still manages to be utterly detestable and dangerous. Making him physically super strong on top of that is unnecessary.

Yes, Luffy snorting the poison up was amazing  I also loved Usopp warning Law on how the alliance was going to pan out. Oh! And Vergo's fate! strawberry floating hell. (Him being cut up and the pieces left hung on the railing.)

Of the three I've seen, I'd say Cowboy Bebop's my favourite Watanabe anime. Space Dandy is for sure under rated tho imo

You gotta watch Carole and Tuesday if you haven't seen it yet. It's brilliant.

I did a search under his name on Netflix yesterday and that came up. I added to my watch list.

I hope they add Cowboy Bebop back at some point...

Was beginning to think Diamond is Unbreakable was going to be slightly more upbeat than previous JoJo arcs, and then:

Kira arrives on the scene and murders Shigechi

Probably the creepiest anime villain I've ever seen, carrying a severed hand in your jacket pocket is definitely disturbing to say that the least.

Also getting some American Psycho vibes from him.

The way he talks to Shigechi is unsettling for many reasons but the calm and almost soothing delivery of "no, no, no, no, no, no, you must die" adds so much, and then to threaten the parents. Shigechi may have been a bit of a greedy little gooseberry fool but man, he was just a middle school kid who died wanting to protect his family and friends.

He's often regarded as the best JoJo villain, and damn you're in for a run of great episodes now he has made himself known.

Kira's my favourite JoJo villain. His dynamic in the story is pretty unique and he's just generally so creepy; he's a large part of the reason that I'd rank part 4 as among the best parts.

+1 for pretty much everything said so far. Part 4 is also one of, if not my favourite part for the fact it's a step back in terms of stakes. It's the first time in the series it's not just "old villain round 2" or "Old villain version 2" and is instead just some guy. He doesn't want to take over the world, he doesn't want to kill every single person, he's just a guy who wants to live a quiet life and indulge his fetish in peace. I wish more series would be able to have a stake reset like this without it being relegated to being a filler arc, but that's what makes Jojo's thing of swapping the cast around each time interesting. It's harder to do in a series with stricter power scaling.

I think my favourite JoJo villain of what I've read so far (up to the start of Part 7) is the villain in Part 6. He owns so much.

One Piece 700s-ish: Absolutely *loving* the arc (Dressrosa) within an arc (Lucy Vs The Arena) structure.

Another JoJo WTF moment.

Dead cat comes back to life as a sentient mobile plant (that purrs and meows)with ridiculously powerful stand

I love it.

Definitely on some kind of watchlist now, cheers Araki.

I just finished watching that yesterday, started reading the manga today. The ED is awesome; it's cool to hear Japanese trap music especially since there isn't a lot of it around.

What did you think of the doctor versus condemned man fight? The doctor's abilities were so OTT silly. (Obviously the whole show has an element of silliness to it, but that bit pushed it really far.)

Yeah what I liked about the show was that it was basically a battle anime with a basis in real life MMA with obvious exaggerations, but that character essentially introduced weapons into it, which sort of took me out of it. I thought the character himself was fun though and the fight itself was alright.

TWEWY Ep 2 down, and they're taking some massive liberties with the story. About three days worth of story have been spliced up and smashed into one, events from day 6 have brought way forward and changed, and very significant events from day 4 haven't happened at all.

It still looks really nice, but I'm starting to have reservations. :?
