Christmas chapters of The Fable were SO GOOD! Legit hilarious. The end of the main story for these set of chapters was also excellent. Can't wait for the next set of chapter dumps.

I'd just got around to finishing last week's Shounen Jump manga and they go and drop the next batch today.

I like to let a good few weeks worth of chapters build up before I read a select few of my favourites. after totally forgetting to check in and read the latest chapters for a few weeks. And I'm Currently catching up Mashle: Magic and Muscles which continues to be as hilariously silly as the name suggests.

Right, what am I missing with Kaguya-Sama? I'll admit to watching only the first episode, but it looked so much like generic anime romance trash that I dinghied it without a second thought. What does it do well? If I felt contempt for episode 1, is it possible it'll still win me round? I enjoyed Komi, which I think it was recommended to fans of, well enough.

I'm currently watching Saiki K., Rurouni Henshin, Hunter x Hunter, and Moriarty the Patriot in case anybody cares (shhhhhh, don't disabuse me). They all fit different moods and people - so for example my partner's enjoying Hunter x Hunter well enough despite their failure to do decent female characters so far, but can't stand Henshin's 'oro?' so I'm handling that one on my own.

WHAT?! That simply won't do! It's adorable when he does it

Has the best character shown up yet?

Don't think so, I'm only four episodes in! I watch snippets while I eat and such, I'm not much of a binge-watcher.

Character growth and development. It grows beyond the prideful battles between the main couple, the core student council expands with great new additions who bounce off eachother and the existing characters very well. Side characters weave in-and-out of the story further adding depth and plot progression and it soon becomes a rom-dramedy.

It's not going to be for everyone - but if you like the funny little games, actual relationships blossoming during the events rather than being a final chapter/episode tease and multiple character arcs progressing rather than constantly stalling/resetting it's the one to read/watch. My only issue with the anime is that the first season in particular rearranges the chapter order a little too much that it feels a bit random or disconnected. The author also likes to poke fun at typical romantic comedy manga/anime in a number of chapters.

It can be funny, cute, surprisingly sad and anything in between. I always come away satisfied and I'm a miserable old git most of the time.

Oh okay, sounds like it goes far beyond the initial (rather tedious) premise! I'll give it another shot, cheers Jay. :)

If you are fine with reading manga I would highly recommend Hell's Paradise: Jigokuraku - it's on the more mature side of shounen, there are a couple of strong and well-balanced female characters in the main cast who are every bit as capable as the male counterparts and the battle system is one of the better ones in recent years. There are around 125 chapters so it doesn't require a massive investment either.

An anime is coming out by MAPPA Studios but it is still in the early stages so no firm release yet.

Whole Cake Island arc should have just been Luffy eating Big Mom out of a home.

I'm hopeless at reading books, never mind manga! I'll have to hold out for that anime I'm afraid. Cheers though, well-balanced female characters are something the medium could do with more of! (Not so much 'strong', it feels like a lot of media's approach to female characters is: it doesn't matter how sexist their tropes or how fanservice their outfits, so long as they can kick arse they're fine. )

Just finished watching the Netflix ultraman series. The CG put me off to begin with but it's actually really nice.

Just learned there's a season 2 next month too so I'm happy!

Looney Tunes toon force powers. Or "The Mask". :slol:

I shouldn't have read the comments on the one piece subreddit 2 weeks ago, the "it's not actually the gomu gomu fruit" was widely discussed so took the joy out of today's chapter for me somewhat.

Also I'm assuming "D" will stand for Destiny and every D inherits the possibility of awakening Joy Boy providing the relevant mythical zoan fruit is eaten.

Shame, that. I'm now glad that the only chatter I see about OP is about how good it was that week or why Sanji > Zorro / Zorro > Sanji  :fp:

Speaking of destiny but still related to my post above: I was cringing at the whole pre-destiny/Luffy is the chosen one thing, but the way Oda poked fun at his own creation just helped me brush it aside for now. Also, the latter part of the prediction you mention would make the whole destiny thing slightly more palatable.

I don't mean to hate on Berserk (this Millennium Falcon arc and its new antagonist has been fantastic) but strawberry floating HELL at everyone falling for Guts  How predictable and yet also hugely disappointing.

The fallout from that moment in the next few chapters is amazing to see.

I haven't gone back to it since the worlds (?) merged. I'm not ready for what's next, and some of those scenes after the fact deserve to remain in my mind's eye for a while yet before the next bit of awesomeness Berserk has to offer removes some of the gleam from it.

ANYWAY!
