YES YES YES! My all-time favourite series!

The author would often name characters and abilities after the music he would listen to whilst writing/drawing the series and as it's been going for well over 30 years expect quite the mix.

Welcome aboard the JoJo train. :wub:

So far I've spotted

Dio = Dio (obviously)
Robert E O Speedwagon = REO Speedwagon
Baron Zeppeli = Led Zeppelin
Tonpetty = Tom Petty
Dire = Dire Straits

Just finished Jonathan Joestar's chapter, now it's Joseph's turn , he's a crazy bastard isn't he.

I'm assuming all the Joestars die horribly before passing the torch to the next

Understandable guess.

I just liked the names for how they sounded :lol: Speedwagon and Tonpetty being my favourites.

The names of the other 'pillar men' in the subbed version I'm watching are slightly easier to 'get'

Wammu - Wham
Kars - Cars (the)
Esidesi - AC/DC

Yeah this type of name fuckery is consistent across all the shows iirc. It's pretty stupid cuz you can hear what they're meant to be.

My favourite is in part 4
when Surface shows up, because not only does the user say "This is my Stand, Surface", it also gets an on screen title drop. But the subs still push "Show Off". Similarly Bad Company's user has "Bad Company" written on his sleeve, but no, Worst Company it is.

Part 4 is stupid for this; because surely they could have gotten away with not changing Echoes and Surface because they're just like, words

Joseph Joestar's chapter finished.

He didn't die young :toot:

Loved that last line, "I'll never forgive those Japanese, *puts cassette into personal stereo* but I do like my Walkman!" :lol:

Edit: Wut, S2 is 48 episodes!?

At the time it was split into two 24 episode seasons but yeah. Stardust Crusaders is more like a road trip type story so it follows basically a monster of the week format, but it also has a larger and slightly more complex central cast so it uses that extra time well enough. How much you like it will depend on how well you gel with its style and characters, but if you liked season 1 you'll almost certainly like it.

If there's anything I don't particularly like about the Stardust Crusaders arc so far, it's the different art style with the cross hatched shadows on every character.

Also, the 'every male character being strawberry floating huge and buff' thing is wearing a little thin already.

Plus, Jotaro is an utter dick to his mum calling her a bitch all the time

Don't worry, that huge overshaded manly-man-dude style drops off a cliff by the next part.

It's really interesting seeing how Araki's art changes over the years. Like Jojo now is pretty much unrecognisable from parts 1 through 3.

Imo it looks better as it goes on. The buff man stuff is cool but it's obviously derivative of gooseberry fool that was contemporary to phantom blood, whereas the later artstyle is wholly original to Araki.
