Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid is brilliant, it's weird, hilarious and cute (Kanna )

Love how it flips between diabetes inducing wholesomeness with the Kanna bits, slightly lewd comedy bits with Tohru and Kobayashi and almost melancholic office work/ slice of life parts.

Just finished S1 and must say it was far better than I anticipated, made my cynical cold heart feel warm and fuzzy for a change.

Hope You're Happy, Lemon 8

I love how awkward this series is, from one social disaster to the next.

Ha!

I'm up to date on Frieren. It's nice and chill and episode 14's Outstanding Minor Animation Flourishes On Characters' Boots was appreciated, as well as the genuinely sweet themes.

I'm still not wowed over like many seem to be but it's a pleasing watch and vibe.

Witch Watch ch138

Already like Nico's new dragon familiar, she's got a bit of a Power vibe going on.

Drying Nico's hair with dragon breath

My Hero Academia 409

Horikoshi has been struggling to keep up the page count again lately but these past two chapters have had some great artwork for Bakugo taking on All for One. :datass: Typesetting could have been a whole lot better though.

I hope the chap takes a long break when he's done with the series.

Sakamoto Days 147

I sure missed Sakamoto just utterly outclassing everybody else with zero effort. Truly a King amongst men.

You and I Are Polar Opposites 45

Man these two doofuses are so strawberry floating adorable with the awkward confessions. This fluffy series always manages to warm my cold, dead heart. I need an anime announcement and I need it now!

Witch Watch 136

Yep, definite Power vibes with a tiny splash of Mem-Cho. From cute gags to a strawberry floating Tiger coming in and stealing Nico away. :slol:

Started the 2nd season of Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid earlier and was slightly taken aback by the sudden fight sequence between Tohru and the new character Llulu, and the subsequent temporary genderswap of kobayashi seemed like a drastic tonal shift.

Also wasn't aware that S1 was produced by the studio which was victim of a terrorist attack (30+ staff killed) a few years ago :dread: , hence the 5 year gap between seasons.

Been meaning to read it for ages and finally got round to properly starting Dandadan (read up to ch5 a while ago).

Ch9 at the moment and I can already tell it's going to be brilliant.

Okarun and Momo walking into each other and 'banging teeth'' they're both utter dorks.

Ch10

Momo laughing her arse off at Okarun 'losing' his ballls  and the subsequent panels of her facial expressions trying to stop laughing

Comedy gold.

Yukinobu Tatsu constantly manages to one-up himself with each new arc and it's seriously impressive how he consistently pumps out weekly chapters with such brilliant artwork.

You'll be caught up soon at this rate, I'm looking forward to your thoughts on what's to come. :D

I'm having a similar experience reading this as when I first read Chainsaw Man, in fact I think its even weirder than CSM.

I think its easier to parse than CSM though, the artwork is a lot clearer even when absolute chaos is unfolding.

Also, Momo is rapidly becoming my favourite female manga character.

Funnily enough as you mention Chainsaw Man he was one of Tatsuki Fujimoto and Yuji Kaku's (Hell's Paradise: Jigokuraku) former assistants. I imagine the three of them probably got on well together as they so often come up with some creatively batshit insanity.

The artwork really is stellar though, it just dumps on most other weeklies with those gorgeous double-page spreads. I pray for the Science SARU animators on this one.

I love Momo and her stupidly expressive reaction faces - every time she pouts, sulks or loses her temper. *swoon*

The author of Ruri Dragon said their health is much better now and will try to deliver good news next year. If this means Ruri Dragon will finally come back out of hiatus I'm going to be so strawberry floating happy.

Just finished reading Rosario + Vampire part 2.

That final chapter was certainly an interesting turn of events and the ending was better than I expected.

Outer Moka 'dying' was a bit gut wrenching but seeing the normally cold and aloof Inner Moka becoming more like the Moka that Tsukune loves (down to her silver hair turning pink like outer Moka's) was a nice touch in the epilogue .

Don't think I'll bother with the anime though, apparently it doesn't follow the manga very closely and totally ignores the 2nd part.

I was mostly satisfied with the ending, outer Moka and friends slowly softening Inner Moka over time was good to see. Definitely the right call not to bother with the anime but it's a shame it didn't get a complete adaptation as there is a lot to love with the series.

The author currently has another series called Ghost Reaper Girl which just came back from around a year long hiatus as a result of poor health - shame how common this is. :dread: Pretty fun read so far, and again the sexy gothic aesthetic shines through.

I know you'd probably enjoy Yuuna and the Haunted Hotsprings in much the same way you did Ayakashi Triangle.

Mahou Sensei Negima and the sequel UQ Holder is also a fun supernatural romp - it's amazing how good the battle system and cast became after dropping the early harem high jinks.

My interest is piqued.

I can see why a lot of mangaka suffer from ill health, the workload must be horrific and sitting at a desk all day (and probably eating junk to save time to meet deadlines) can't be healthy for anyone.

Thanks for the recommendations, I'll add them to my ever growing list of manga/anime to check.out
