Why would you ever cheer for a non-yuri ship? Yuri is the only legitimate form of romance.

While it's true, Raftani is a ship that I cannot find fault in.

If Raftani has a hole then there's your fault. Ship's gonna sink when it goes out to sea.

Ryuko and Mako from Kill la Kill

Although it wasn't clear if they ever actually got together as such it was strongly hinted that they were more than just friends (or at least Mako thought so).

Finished End of Evangelion.

I... don't really know what to think about that. If I had to sum it up in a single word I think that word would be 'overindulgent.'

I'll have to let it sit for a while methinks.

5 years later I still don't really know what to think about it or which ending I prefer
still it's an achievement of a film in a lot of ways

Re-watching the Battle City arc of Yu-Gi-Oh, I'll fight anyone who claims Joey didn't beat Marik in the Semi-Finals.

I just finished watching Evangalion. All I have to say can be summed up by this...

This just feels like 2deep4me stuff. Not all that impressed.

What the hell was with that scene with Ritsuko and Misato looking like they both got shot? Did everyone end up dying? Like seriously, were there some episodes that just went missing somewhere along the line?

That is precisely how I felt when I watched it on Toonami, or whatever it was on in the UK a number of years back. I was going to watch it again in the hopes that I had matured enough to better appreciate it - because some things we consume at totally the wrong time in life - but your post is making me reconsider if I was the one at fault to begin with

The series ending is a bit weird in the last two episodes basically take place in Shinji's head. The movies are basically what's happening in the real world at the same time.

Did you watch the film? It might make a bit more sense
also yes technically they did have to scrap an episode, which is partially why the last part of the series gets so weird (imo that doesnt detract from it)
also if you dont appreciate some of the weirder gooseberry fool, there's a lot of good analysis videos online that you might want to check out

Ok, well at least that explains why it was such a jarring change, although I'm still at a loss for what the hell was going on.

I just finished watching the End of Evangalion movie and it still feels like there are a bunch of chunks missing.

Like the relationship between Shinji and Asuka goes from him just being aware of her existence and being a fellow pilot to him seemingly being crazy over her.

Another relationship that just seems to appear out of nowhere is Ritsko and Shinji's dad. They virtually never talk at any other time in the series and then the first time we get an indication that she likes him is when shes sent in front of the Seele council (where she's naked for some reason, why?) and they tell her she's a replacement for Rei, which sends her into some depressive spiral.

Speaking of his dad, in the end he says that he's sad that he could never get close to Shinji because he was scared of hurting people/being hurt, but we see that he's very friendly with Rei a bunch of times. WTF is that gooseberry fool?!

Also one last thing regarding the robots, why is it when they try to blow up the angels normally it never works, but when an EVA shoots it's giant gun they can kill them? I know there is the whole thing with the AT field, but I thought that was only at close range.

I think I'm done with it for now, I might come back to watch the other movie (how many are there anyways?) when I have some more free time.

Overall the art was nice, pacing was good up until the end, fights were pretty cool but this didn't resonate with me to the same extent that it clearly does with so many others.

Finished Neon Genesis Evangelion and EoE for the first time...

The creators were certainly in a strawberry floating place making that.

Your dreams probably obey the rules about as well as the show does.

Eva spoilers:
Rightey wrote:Like the relationship between Shinji and Asuka goes from him just being aware of her existence and being a fellow pilot to him seemingly being crazy over her.

The was the major sticking point for me. After doing some reading up, apparently the kiss scene earlier in the show was supposed to be a turning point: Asuka really does like Shinji but doesn't know how to express it. Shinji is the same. The kiss is them both failing to express their feelings which leads to the downward spiral of their relationship. From what I've read, a large chunk of the show was supposedly about their relationship. I didn't get any of that so their pairing off seemed super weird.

Also, that last scene...I still have no strawberry floating idea what was going on (apart from the fact that they both rejected Instrumentality). Why was he trying to strangle her? Why does she call him disgusting when he stops? I've not really seen any decent explanation for that ending, except that the Japanese is more along the lines of "I feel sick" rather than "Disgusting".

Speaking of his dad, in the end he says that he's sad that he could never get close to Shinji because he was scared of hurting people/being hurt, but we see that he's very friendly with Rei a bunch of times. WTF is that gooseberry fool?!

Rei was a clone of his dead wife, and his dead wife is his motivation for everything as she's the only person he's ever been able to get close to (he's a grown up version of Shinji essentially)

The show gets a lot better about following the rules in the Battle City arc, though still has some bullshit.

Then again the current game rules have warped beyond all recognition with Pendulum monsters and zones, and Link monsters with creating new Extra zones.
Makes some of the anime BS look sensible by comparison.
