I was inspired by Pedz to try out some manga on the wife's kindle, so I converted a few volumes of Way of the Househusband and dropped them on last night.

The Paperwhite's screen is really good for manga, everything looks lovely and crisp! It's a touch smaller than a standard tankobon volume, but not so much that I have to squint or anything.

I think I might get back into reading manga like this! :)

The only thing it does better than Parts 1-3 is the animation. When it comes to characters and plot it's the same significant step down that Part 4 was.

yo you must be tripping

Part 4's like the best writing wise, and while part 5 isn't as good, the character writing and integration of christian symbology is excellent. I don't like Giorno that much and he's not very interesting, but that's sort of the point as being the son of DIO (god) and having the power to gift life he's a sort of metaphor for Jesus, thus the value of his character is more in how he inspires his comrades. Outside of that, Bucciarati is one of my favourite jobros (also sort of a jesus metaphor, but probably more like john the baptist).

I've only watched a few episodes so far, so maybe I need to give the writing more time.

The characters though seem to be the worst cast so far.

Part 5 is the best part. By a long way. 6 and 7 are very close behind though.

I assume the entire cast get replaced part way through then because otherwise there's no way that can possibly happen.

The utterly uncalled for out of character bastardisation of Joseph in Part 4 probably should've been a warning that character writing standards were taking a dip.

I don't like what araki did to joseph after part 2, but apparently he goes back to 'normal' off screen by part 6; that's pretty much the only thing I dislike about part 4.

Part 5 has some of the best character writing of the series; the attention and care given to the relationships between the villains (who often come in pairs) is often as in depth as the main characters themselves. This writing compliments the way fights and powers function in this part, since they're often about synergy in both the antagonist and protagonist sides.
Give it a chance, you'll probably find some appreciation of it.

Imagine thinking the writing in part 4 is a step down from 3 of all things. Okuyasu alone has more character than the entire part 3 cast combined, except maybe Pol.

The fights in 4 onwards are also more interesting than 3 since Araki got more into a feel of what weird gooseberry fool stands could actually do.

I thought I would read so much more when I bought mine   It was an older model and weighed a bit more than I was expecting. Another issue I didn't expect to encounter was that I didn't like the non-book feel of it in my hands when reading it.

One Piece: An admiral showed up on that mangrove island. And that bear guy. The ****ing scenes! And Luffy's mushroom got tugged on while he was unconscious. The legend building in some these chapters is so good!

Oh hey, I didn't realise Xander Mobus played the protag! That OP is damn catchy, too.

But nevermind that;

Caught up with UQ Holder after giving it a break for around a year and it has been absolutely batshit with some of the abilities and power spectacle. Seeing the MC storm an enemy fortress as a massive wave of magical vampiric blood was a sight to behold. :datass:

Akamatsu may lean on fanservice a little too much but boy is he creative when it comes to drawing action.

What the strawberry float?

I just found it on Rightstuf. Reduced from $400 to $300. What? How the strawberry float are they even coming to that price?

Looking it up the Blu-Ray for just episdoes 1-6 of Persona 4 Golden is also $80.

Are Aniplex just strawberry floating high?

I've heard before that physical anime prices are so high partly to deter importing from America/Europe to Japan, where the physical market just barely stops short of a mask and a gun.

Even so, they're on crack if they think I'm paying half that!

That's good! You'll have a lovely backlog to steamroller through in minutes when you do get the time to read

I'm not sure what to do, to be honest. Carry on reading until I'm all caught up and let a backlog build up, or stop somewhere in the 900s, read something else while OP backlog increases. Fully catching up and reading one chapter a week is NOT an option. One chapter a week is just... my god, I'd go nuts waiting to see what happens next!
