After losing my place in the Jujutsu Kaisen manga I figured I'd give the anime another shot and it certainly elevated the first couple of arcs. Powered through it in a few days and think I finally have the drive to get back up-to-date after more than a year.

After the hulking physiques of the previous arcs, I found the art of DiU really easy on eyes.

Please also check out Mob Psycho 100 while you're on Cruncyhroll. It's by the same creator (and animation house I think) which were responsible for One Punch Man s1.

Its more the oversaturated colours that are jarring, makes everything seem really otherworldly.

And yes I will give Mob Psycho 100 a watch.

Yeah, Araki has always gone really weird on colours on his covers. And while it definitely does feel weird going from Stardust to that, I'm kind of glad they made the shift, especially with the overall art style shift going from old Araki to new Araki. It's toned down again going into GW, but it doesn't fully go back.

I think it's really beautiful imo
Asides from the various animation issues I expect from David pro, the series looks exponentially better from this point onwards

Anyone reading Kaiju number 8? I read it the other day and this is shaping up to be a really good shounen manga

The scene transitions in the first few episodes of Part IV are glorious.. it's a shame they weren't as common going forward but overall it oozes so much more style than Part III.

My only real complaint with Kaiju No. 8 is to do with pacing. The most recent issue had a cool little detail with Mina using her Tiger to support her body while firing her big strawberry floating cannon.

Ep9 of Diamond is Unbreakable

Koichi's haircut makes him look like Polnareff

Also just spotted this on Crunchyroll and kind of want to watch it

I really dig the colour palette of part 4 as well; like yeah part 3 would change the colours up to reflect a scene but part 4 consistently has this surreal sort of look that on its own adds flavour to its sleepy japanese town setting. Yeah the direction of those early bits of part 4 is great, but I guess with 5 you're trading that for more consistency.

The only issue I have with Kaiju No.8 is that the flow between panels doesn't always make sense to me, like while the art itself is great it could "move" a little smoother. I like that the protagonist is older, and yeah that bit you mentioned is super neat :D

Space Dandy is my favourite of his work.

They're both owned by Sony now. I guess the platforms themselves are staying separate though...

Way of the House-husabnd was over way too quickly, but I loved every second of it.

Of the three I've seen, I'd say Cowboy Bebop's my favourite Watanabe anime. Space Dandy is for sure under rated tho imo

Nagatoro anime time. :shifty:

Much higher production quality than I was expecting this series to get and that OP is great.

Watched the first Twewy. Really liked how well the artstyle and soundtrack carried over, and the voice cast is pretty solid, but the CG is a bit funky. The fight scenes look like an idol anime.

They're absolutely screaming through the plot, having already reached Day 3, and they've skipped and skewed a few of the story beats to fit it all in. I suppose that's to be expected when you try to condense a 40hr game into twelve 24 minute episodes, but I'm a bit worried that the remaining 11 episodes won't give it enough time to flesh everything out properly.

We shall see!

One Piece: Punk Hazard is such a great arc. I think it's the "Goldilocks" arc (i.e. the length is just right) and it sets multiple plot points up for down the line.
