Nobody's saying you're not allowed to write the story the way you want. But that doesn't make you exempt from criticsm if people feel it enforces a negative message.

But that swings both ways, nobody's saying you're not allowed to be offended, but that doesn't make you exempt from criticsm of being too easily offended.

And I'm allowed to say that, but it doesn't make me exempt for being called out as ignorant as gooseberry fool of minority issues. And so on.

My personal opinion is that concluding Ellie's love interests partners being gay have any influence in them being killed off is akin to concluding the game implies gay people are violent. Between Ellie, Riley, Bill, Frank and now Dina, it's probably the most queer-positive AAA series I can remember, and appearing to scold people who want to be allies doesn't endear people to your cause. But, like, third line of this post etc.

That's a legit position to have. I think I disagree (in that I personally take no offence to it but dislike its usage due to the effect it's had on the LGBTQ community) but it's a valid POV.

Watching it again I think it’s a really poor trailer. I’ve no doubt there are some misdirects in there but story wise it seems to casually give away the death of a character, all the locations seem very similar to ones from the previous game and then it’s just a series of flash cuts of attacks. The Joel tease at the end is really good though.

The way I see it is that the killing of a main characters lover/parents or kids as a motivation for that character to then go on a rampage of revenge is a pretty generic plot device with the only difference being that this time that person is gay.
I'm with the Captain here in that I see no problem with the story of TLoU 2 unless we do now say even basic storyline concepts are now blacklisted for certain groups of people.

The first hands on impressions will be coming in tomorrow or a couple of days so we will know more details about it.

Also, it’s probably the second game that comes in two discs. The last time it was Red Dead Redemption 2.

I don't give a strawberry float if the love interest is straight or gay. A person got killed, and it's Ellie's motivational to carry out her revenge.

It's getting boring that a specific group got upset about what's wrong with the game. Bloody snowflakes.

This sums up my thoughts on the matter. It’s getting really annoying that people try to find fault with every single little detail these days. Everyone needs something to feel offended about.

Anyway, the game looks great, interested to see if these are big wide open world areas we can fully explore.

It seems the preview event yesterday covers 2 levels equaling 3 hours of gameplay.

Well this conversation would not have came up had Ellie been straight and her boyfriend was potentially killed off. That would have been fine.

Just saw the new trailer. The graphics and detail are tremendous. I think the intensity of the game may be a little too much for me personally, but I'm impressed by the design and styling.

Haven't had a chance to actually watch the trailer yet, too busy reading through the usual SJW 'stuff' but out of curiosity how do our own gay members feel about it?

I'm very excited. The town looks great, as does the snow in general. I'm expecting most of the "story beats" in that trailer to be misdirects - I'm still not convinced Joel is alive, maybe I'm just being paranoid

At least they didn’t fridge a giraffe. You don’t want PETA on your case.

I still reckon it's Joel they kill while Ellie is restrained and the guy who grabs her from behind later on is the asian dude from the first trailer.

He has the same color jacket as Joel in this trailer and would likely promote a similar, what are you doing here reaction.

How do people feel about it being more open world than the original? I’ll be interested in seeing ND tackle an open world environment

Madagascar in Uncharted 4 was wonderful. It took a "wide linear" approach which I think was the perfect amount of open-worldness for the game. If this is similar I will be happy I think. I don't want an actual open world with mission markers and the like though.
