PostThe Launch Feedback Thread
by Eighthours » Sun Aug 17, 2008 12:17 pm

Hi everyone,

We've tried to make this place feel like GR in the good old days before it became all gangsta and purple. But there's probably something glaringly obvious that we missed, a forum section that you're not happy with, or a rule that we haven't introduced that you think we should have.

So, if you could let us know what you think of the place so far, then we can fine-tune everything to make sure that GRcade is worthy of being your new forum home. :D

It's very very very "square"

(And obviously generally wonderful...spoiler boxes! ...I can't fit my Wigglytuff gif in as Avatar though...anyone know how to easily resize? :))

Seems good so far. A forum "reboot". You know like Batman Begins.

Google irfanview, download it and resize the image in that. It worked for me.

It's looking good so far, the only little problem I can see with the board is someone has signed up with a longish name and it stretches the user info column, which makes it look a little untidy.

Fantastic job otherwise!

In one of the rules it says you can't discuss any form of piracy etc. I'm guessing that means you can't talk of ways on 'how' to pirate, such as pointing someone to a torrent site or giving them key-generators rather than telling them that uTorrent is a good program or discussing the future of torrenting and piracy?

I'm going to have to get used to the edit & quote boxes now being at the bottom of posts.

The user control panel is rather swish, as is the font colours running down the right hand side. This is what GamesRadar probably should have looked like a good few years ago.

Pretty much. No asking for PMs on the forum either, for the sake of keeping the lawyers at bay. Obviously we can't police conversations conducted by PM, but try to keep things clean. :)

Is there going to be any rules on size of sigs? I saw there was something advising not to have big sigs, but is there going to be any aprroximate size like GR, because huge sigs really ruin the look of the forum, and strawberry float up loading speed of pages especially at times where the forum is going to be fairly busy - namely the next few days. Don't wanna be a stickler or anything but i've already seen one or two cropping up.

The new features are a nice step up from before. You lot have done a great job of making it look and feel like the old forum.

Lovely job.

Overwhelmingly positive.

In fact I can't think of anything I don't like.

Oh, yeah. "Oooh, ahhh": that's how it always starts. Then later there's running, and screaming.

So no Porn PMs or someone asking another person to upload an album on to rapidshare and post/PM the link?

It's almost too fast, on GR you had to wait a least a few seconds every time you opened a page. Here it's near instantaneous. Fantastic job guys.

I do think the dimension size limitations on the avatars is a bit strict though, limited by the old avatars' size that Future never updated because they're such bastards.

Very nice indeed, like the good old days of pre-gangsta GR.

Great job by all those involved.

It's what was decided on GR, based on everyone's input. It allows for new avatars without losing the feel of Ye Olde GR.
