I was fighting with it then suddenly all the sparks flew out of it like it broke with a message saying the sword had run out of power but now it’s not even in my inventory anymore  I’m guessing as I used the glitch to get it that might be why but I wasn’t expecting it to happen and now I hope it’s not lost to me

There are stronger weapons anyway but yeah will suck if you can't do the trial of the sword.

If I remember right, because it's glitched it will act as if broken, but once recharged should appear in your inventory again.

Fingers crossed, I’m going to do the actual quest and natural way of getting the Master Sword once I have enough hearts anyway so hopefully that then stops the glitching and it will work as intended

Got a message pop up to say the Master Sword power was restored and yes the sword appeared back in my inventory  maybe I’ll refrain from using it until I complete the actual quest and obtain it the proper way

That's pretty funny that it behaves that way when the game isn't prepared for you to have it.

Also I think at some point the sword gains its full power and doesn't recharge anymore, and becomes spectacularly effective against the sentinel things and other ganon infused stuff (ie bosses), so that might stop.

The reason it needs to recharge is it doesn't have its full power yet. I can't really remember.

The Master Sword is always extra effective against Guardians - it will glow more when they are around and it doubles its attack power (I think it also does this inside shrines/dungeons?) When it's glowing it takes longer to "break" but it does still run out of power eventually I think?

You have to complete the Trial of the Sword for this

Ah OK. Is that part of the dlc or an optional side quest? I honestly can't remember!

Well to be more specific, completing Trial of the Sword (which yes is part of the DLC) makes the Master Sword be constantly in its powered-up glowing 60 damage state, which normally only activates around Guardians. Which I thought was what you meant on a skim read!

Iirc it still needs to recharge after so much use. I still rarely used it because royal guard and savage lynel swords are better!

Yeah I never did that but am looking forward to unlocking it.

I must have been confused by almost every other game that gives you a gimped master sword.

Oh, you got the thing, but it's not that great yet!! Keep playing for 20 hours. Cool trope Nintendo.

Continuing my adventures, I’ve been playing for almost 20 hours on my replay and I’m now heading towards my first Divine Beast. I have gone for the DB in the Gerudo Desert, forgot all the about the lead when you dress up as a Vai and then have to infiltrate the Yiga Clan base.

Very much enjoying my run on this, lots of stuff I remember but equally a lot I don’t

I remember the Yiga clan being shorter and easier on my second run through.

Which it should, thinking about it

That's the most classically Zelda section I reckon, and has a good boss fight too. I should go back and try it early on.

I need to get back into playing this. I think last time I played I was about to fight Ganon in the elephant, found I needed more arrows and so started to aimlessly wander about doing trials

I've just made it to Zora's Domain on my second playthrough "toward DLC" now. It's really hard to remain focused on clearing the main story so I can access the extra content! It's nice re-experiencing the objectives placed in your path and little story elements, though.

I forgot just how strawberry floating huge the game is though, it's going to take me 30-40 hours just to do all 4 divine beasts even the second time though. I think I approached 200hrs on the Wii U.

It is pretty cool finding really nice weapons (with some massive buffs e.g. +40 defence shield) in the silver chests added in Master Mode, though. Makes taking on the beefed up enemies a little more satisfying and less punishing. E.g. black bokoblins, moblins and lizalfos and stripey white bokoblins dotted around pretty much straight into the game, frequently a gang of those strawberry floaters chasing after you with 300-500 HP :dread:

Just got to my first Divine Beast of my replay (Naboris) and I remember now these being my least favourite parts now. Not a fan of the actual puzzle in this one, can’t remember for the life of me what I need to do with certain sections  may just use a guide on this bit to get past it quicker.

Do you think your choice of approach, of bundling each aspect of gameplay together, had a detrimental effect on the experience? I've noted that "first unlock all of the map" is a way a good number of people approach open world games, which has always seemed odd to me as I am much more likely to exhaust an area entirely before moving on - but I think the "intended" approach is something between, where you would unlock one tower, then explore that area of the map for a while completing things within it, and then move on. When it comes to the Divine Beasts I think it's definitely intentional that you would do the quests to unlock the divine beast on finding that area, and then complete the divine beast, and then move on and explore elsewhere until you find your next divine beast and do its build up and then complete it. The idea of deliberately postponing the actual divine beasts until one dungeon-rush at the end of the game sounds like a way of making them not as enjoyable!
