Here's the thing though; I've done this, and no such prompt occurred. I'm guessing I didn't pick my path starting point accurately enough though. Where should I be setting off from?

Have you unlocked the map for that region? There should be a fairly clear path that you can see to follow on the map.

Yeah I've unlocked the entire world map. I figured as nothing had happened once I got to Goron Tower I tried to recreate what happened with the Zora - I started from a shrine near the bottom of the path and followed it upwards. Nothing happened though so I'm guessing I need to do this again with a start point even further south?

The stable at the foot of the path has a trader who will sell you elixirs to survive the heat

Follow the path up and you'll find help easily enough

I don't think there were any particular prompts that led me in any direction after I'd helped the Zora, though - I was met by their Prince at the river which led me to their domain, I'm assuming that's a game prompt but I've had nothing similar to direct me towards the Gorons.

Balladeer wrote:Yep, I did the south-west second because I wasn’t prompted anywhere after the south-east and due to its proximity to the start I thought it’d be easier than the other two.

The way the game "prompts" you is through the sequential unlocking of quests and goes like this

> Great Plateau > Dueling Peaks > Hestu > Kakariko >Impa
> Hateno > Hateno Ancient Tech Lab > Back to Kakariko
> Meet Zora > Zora's Domain > First Divine Beast
> Continue towards Akkala Ancient Tech Lab which will take you past Death Mountain

If you buy and upgrade the house while doing the above (like I did) the Tarrey Town quest will also guide you up past Death Mountain, as well as the quest to find Robbie

The other thing I would say is - don't worry about prompts and where you are "supposed" to go, a lot of the fun is just finding your own path and seeing where it takes you!

I don't think I'd found out how to avoid burning, so did the entire run to the Goron village by being as fast as possible and trying to find a route that would stop me from burning up too quickly. Can't remember the exact path I took, but I had a lot of fun doing it.

Yeah exactly - it's great looking at the world as a set of problems and thinking "how can I deal with this?" rather than simply "what is the solution the developers want me to use?"

I did in in the Zora > Goron > Rito > Gerudo order.

Oh for sure! It's all about the discovery and going your own way. I think the light-touch prompting for a most common route is great design too though!

Yep it's a balance that I think they do a great job with. There is a nice breadcrumb trail to follow and players should be able to stumble upon enough hints to help them on the way, but it is handled really well so as not to become either overbearing or have a negative impact on the feeling of freedom.

Beat the Rito Divine Beast last night. So that's Elephant and Bird down so far. I think I might just wander around for a bit and do the memory questline.

I can't decide which Divine Beast to tackle next, although I made it about halfway up Death Mountain before I started to go on fire and die. I haven't set foot anywhere near the area the other divine beast is in.

Still loving the game. Played it for a good bit last night when I came home from work. It's very rare that I play games on weekdays. Took down one of those big stone things as well, was easier than I thought it would be.

Ah thank you, this is what I had missed! I'd 'unlocked' the stable on my map but clearly, for whatever reason, I'd not been inside this one or spoken to anyone around it. Cheers!

I've returned to this after a break of about six months (I got badly defeated in one of the divine beasts and it out me off for a while :slol: ).

I've gone back to basics and am just doing all the shrines so I can be as powerful as possible before I take on the bosses.

I know I'm largely preaching to the converted here, but this game is just so good. Whether I'm having a long go at it, or just pottering around for ten minutes, I can always find something to do. I know it's always tempting to talk in superlatives, but I really think this is on its way to being my favourite ever game.

Really struggled with the camel. It was so confusing. I spent about 2 hours in there, most of that time was just me wandering around not knowing what to do :dread:

Also really enjoyed Link having to cross dress.

The divine beasts are a bit topsy-turvy but I think that's what differentiates them from the shrines. A bit obtuse in places but made for some good "aha" moments and minor sequence breaking in terms of gliding over here or hopping over there at the last possible minute / with the tiniest bit of stamina remaining etc.

Isn't there a quest before the entrance to the Goron village where you can get the fireproof armour? That area on the right where there are gorons working. Just before you get to the village?

I think I started with elixirs and then bought the armour in the village. I then recouped my losses by wandering for miles over the mountains getting lots of gems.
I discovered the quest too late.

I had a harder time with that one. It was the last one where I had to make a door open to ge to the terminal that marked me off.

Also took far too long for phase 2 of the blight battle to click.

Yeah you get 1 piece. Assuming you go that way. Like with Zora I went a totally different route that took maybe a quarter the time and avoided the battles so ended up having to buy my armour.

Plus side I had the rupees and I'd been farminf meat for skewers so was ok.

I had difficulty figuring out how to get into the humps. There was a brilliant Eureka moment with the electric conductors though.

Going to head to Death Mountain and see if my sexy Gerudo costume helps against the firey death.

 I’m not sure didn’t try it.

I liked the route up to Gecko Beastie it was good fun.

This is the most common order I believe, I did the same and yes it makes sense if you follow the game's prompting

I can't remember the animals but I did Zora, ruto, Goron and Gerudo.

I think.
