Pro controller is just so comfy!

I normally go by vision; basically just after the laser starts to come out I hit the parry and that *generally* works from a middling distance
I cant parry for gooseberry fool when it comes to standard enemies tho lmao

The only thing I ever learned to parry was guardian laser beams as well, I got lucky a few times but not consistently, just had to make do with dodging/jumping out of the way.

I found out by accident that you can parry the stones those water octo things spit at you and kill them with it.

Another great 'i wonder if' thing that worked

Talk to me about this Guardian laser parry.
At the moment as soon as I hear that ominous beeping, I run and run...

I just finished the Divine Beast Vah Ruta. Was a really pleasant surprise to find that the game has a few small dungeons! Thought the mechanic of it was very clever too. The voice acting is woeful though, isn't it?

The Lynel from whom you have to pinch Shock Arrows before meeting up with Sidon at the reservoir looks different to the other Lynel I've encountered so far. To me it looked like a small Ganon. (And it straight-up murdered me each time I engaged with it.)

Though as I type this, I'm now wondering if I can use the special power Mipha gave me (which I'm basically interpreting as infinite fairies, right?) to go back and try again...

Another thing that has literally struck me as I type is that perhaps I can use Mipha's Grace to attempt that secret southern island (which pinched all my gear and wouldn't let me save)

Whadda game :wub:

No, it activates once and then takes a while to recharge (takes about 1/2 hour play time I think

Thats kind of how you deal with a lot of spitting enemies in Zelda though. :shifty:

Yeah, the bit that clues you in is that in past Zelda games you just need to have your shield raised to deflect it whereas in BotW this deflects it but doesn't direct it back at them. I gathered from this that there must be another way and tried parrying them. Et voila.

Yeah tbh that whole section is one of my favourite parts of the game, Mipha's one of the more developed characters in the game
shame she's dead lmao

Really? I thought she was nauseating and wet. Which I suppose is appropriate for a Zora...

I didn't particularly /like/ her but she was more developed than most in the game.

Obviously the best character is Link's greatest friend and conversationalist, Hudson

Hagie, Ruli and their sick kid are the only characters worth a damn in BotW, certainly the only time I felt any connection to the people of the game was for their quest.

Oh and Kass is a badass with his accordion as well. :datass:

Off the top of my head, I like Urbosa, Daruk, Revali (okay so I wanted to punch his face in but), Bolson, the jiggling Korok, Kohga, Kass, Sidon I suppose (but seriously Internet stop drooling), Riju, and I even liked Zelda in some of the memories. I can get behind the whole ‘restricted intellectual’ thing.

They might not be Midna/Zant tier, but BotW still has good characters.

Up to 95 shrines now, no idea where the rest are. I'd like to at least break 100 before going after Ganon but I've run out of ideas for where to find them and I've already put so many hours into aimless exploring. Did anyone else get to a point where they were tempted to look up the remaining shrine locations? I want to experience everything this game has to offer but I don't want it to take the rest of the year (because I'm trying to focus on one game at a time rather than buying and trying loads but never completing them, which is what I usually do).

When I was down to I think 8 left I looked up a map to get the rough locations. No point scouring the entire map with the shrine detector turned on - especially when it doesn't alert you to some shrines that have to be revealed with a puzzle.

Frank wrote:I barely recognise any of these NPC names :slol:

Mipha = Link's Zora piece
Hudson = Carpenter, Tarrey Town founder, all-around swell guy and Link's best friend
Hagie and Ruli = Tarrey Town posh parents
Hunnie = Their sick kid who loves [redacted] cake
Urbosa = Strong queen
Daruk = Not Darunia
Revali = Punchable bird man
Bolson = Awkwardly camp stereotype
Hestu = MARACAS
Kohga = Yiga clan boss man
Kass = The bird that made accordions cool
Sidon = Link's true love
Zelda = Don't remember who this is sorry

There is a website called Zelda maps that has everything on it and you make an account and check stuff off, if you want to use a tool to find them. Doesn’t tell you anything about them just where they are.
